I’m somewhere around 20-25. I’ve been hitting it hard this month with 11 out of the last 13 days. I’ll e out there every day for at least a morning hunt before work all the way through gun season next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have 15 sits. 80hrs. I log everything. I keep a journal and write cool things i see when im up in the stand. I like to go back and read stuff. I have all the dates written down of when i harvested each deer.
Im in a really great club, and I enjoy dog hunting too, but I would like to have the Nov, for bow. then come Dec, drop the dogs
4 total. More excited for my son to hunt. He is hunting saturday and it is a brown it's down day. I wish he would shoot a big buck but will be just as proud no matter what he shoots, it will be his first deer.
No no affiliation. Just doing bowhunters survey again. Data is basic, date, how many hours hunted, number and type of deer observed as well observation of other select species such as turkey, grouse, mink, bear, raccoons etc etc. data collection runs from opening day until gun season. They will email the results back at the end of the season giving you such information as the average number of deer seen by you vs others in your area, statewide average etc etc.
I'm not keeping track, but would say I'm at 30-40 sits so far. I too also have 2 kids, but the wife is key here. She picks them up in the afternoon. I just don't get to hunt mornings much. The other biggest factor for me is to hunt close to home. All my spots I try to keep it 30 minutes drive or less. Hunting close to home gives me more hunting and the ability to get home when needed. If you can find a couple spots 10-15 minutes from home, that may give you more stand time. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
5 partial day sits for me so far. Two late morning(after I get my daughters on the bus) sits and 3 early dark morning sits. I have seen 17 bucks and lots of does. 2 coyotes and lots of turkey etc. I’m going out tomorrow for another after the bus sit and Saturday is the last day so it will be an all day sit. We have a late archery season from 12/26 to 1/20 so there’s that as well. Great season so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's awesome..I remember those days.. Unfortunately, urban sprawl has taken its toll on this area..there is nothing left.
This is a huge factor for me. I can be at my lease in 12 minutes from my house and about 7 minutes from work. It makes it so much easier to hunt, scout, etc. I have been tempted to buy ground in southern OH a few times but its not worth it to me to be able to use it a few weekends a season.
Honestly I haven't kept up but I'd say between 15 to 20 times. Some have been short hunts though. I have the advantage of very close ground, so I'm lucky there. I really should do a better job of keeping track and have thought of starting a hunting journal. Idk seems like a good idea until it comes down to actually doing it. I have a job, wife, kids and all the craziness that brings. I feel lucky to get to chase this passion. My job has a lot of paperwork so a journal seems like just another due out and mostly I just want to forget the daily grind and hunt. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
5 days in Colorado 7 days in Newfoundland 3 days in New York 8 days in Iowa Still have one more hunt planned as well as running my hounds.
5 full days, 1 half day. Land is about 4.5 hours away, and I've got young kids so I go whenever I can coordinate the time. Planning to hunt at least another 2 full days. Working on scouting some public that's about an hour away, so my time in stand may change for the better.
gotcha. he will be hooked if he gets a deer. You have grandbabies? they usually cause the nest fliers to come back!!
