Well, I gave him 10 hours and he never bedded down. I had some good blood but he just kept walking trails which leads me to believe he wasn’t hurt that bad. Blood just came to a stop and I honestly believe he isn’t going to die. The shot was so low I think I just skimmed the paunch. I’m shooting the thunderhead nitro which is an 1 1/8 cut so the wound isn’t massive. Sh*t sucks but I’m headed out tomorrow morning at another farm. Can’t kick myself. Almost closed the deal on an old nanny this evening. Had multiple opportunities on a young doe at 12 yds, drew back on a bigger more mature doe but she turned around and didn’t present a good shot. It probably worked out for the best since this spot holds most of the does and should be dynamite once the rut kicks off here. Another fun hunt with my little man!
Left the house at 7pm to go to town and had a buck standing in the road watching a doe who was trying to outrun him. He could care less that we were slow rolling up on him. Had a real nice right side and a lone tine on the left.
Well I think that's ridiculous... I have never wounded or missed a deer in all my.... Oh wait.... Yeah it sucks brother. Think on the bright side. You still have your tag.
First deer I’ve missed in 4 years...dammit. Ended up skipping this morning it was a blizzard and we have about 4 inches right now on the ground. I’ll be out tonight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In the rollercoaster ride of needed to poop whilst in the stand. Have you ever been able to hear the manager tell you... If you let a fart go next you will feel better. So you move and adjust and try to get the fart to get to the head of the log ride and go. You almost make then some turd pushing a like turd in a make a wish t shirt that you know they just made at home says oh no and pushes to the front... Getting almost on the ride and you need to push him back into line. Even though you are fairly sure he left a shoe at the mouth of the log ride Translation I didn't poop my pants, but I'll prolly be throwing out these boxers.
72 degrees & sunny yesterday... 28 degrees today, 35 mph N winds, wind chills in the teens No hunting for me today but work is going to suuuuck...
I'm hoping there is light work for me this week and I might be released early so I can get some afternoon sits in! but we'll see, one thing I have learned is there is always something to do on the farm!
just watched a small buck chase a doe through my back yard......."cough" I don't feel good all the sudden
So........while I was enjoying some family time yesterday, this young man cruised in front of my blind.
