Alright buck is posted on the score thread. 12 pts, 176 3/8 gross score and 151 5/8 net, 262 lbs. based on the gray I am estimating him around 5-6 yrs old.

    04 November
I arrived in Kansas Monday evening around 1930. Pulled cards as y’all saw.

    05 November
I was in the stand by 0545, sat in the blind until 1245. I only saw 3 pheasants and 2 squirrels. Headed to my cousins house and grabbed a sandwich and hit the head. The next set is another major funnel. I didn’t see a damn thing.

    06 Nov
I was in the stand at 0545, 32 deg, slight breeze out of the NW. at 0649 a little button buck strolled through acting rutty. Around 0800 I stood up to stretch and checked work emails. I had just put my phone away and was about to fart, looked over my left shoulder and here comes mister big. He was around 40 yds out when I spotted him. There was a small 8 pt following him at about 10 back. Both bucks were swollen and rutty. The big one stopped to work a scape at 17 yds, then moved to the scrape in front of my stand (8 yds). He was on it for 4 minutes scraping and licking branches. He turned and headed to another scrape across the finger of cut soybeans. That scrape is at 38 yds.

At 0813 he was at 23 yds, quartering away presenting his right side. I mmmaaa at him hoping he would turn. He stopped and just looked to the right at a major trail into the field. I was holding on the tail end of his rib cage hoping to slide it in right under the ribs.
I touched the release and heard whap. He mule kicked and took off. He ran about 80 yds into the would and I heard a crash. Yeah I was hooting and hollering like a kid. After calming down I started glassing for blood and my arrow. NOTHING....
I started to second guess my shot placement... at the 45 minute mark I climbed down and started searching the shot area and edge of the woods. Nothing found. I gave him another 30 minutes then headed in where he entered the woods. No blood anywhere, continued another 40 yds when I spotted him. He was down but his head was stuck in the upright position. That startled me a lot. Then I noticed his ears were sagging down. I worked my way up to him and BAM BBD.

The satellite picture is my stand. It faces NE. He was right in front of me when I shot him. As I said he went 80 yds into the woods across from me.

Take a looks at this heart shot quartering away. I am a happy man.

Here is how I found him. The sapling on the right had his head snagged and in the upright position.

Excellent buck! You should have 4 mass measurements on each side I think. You're missing one on the right side and I think the right side math is a little off.

You know how I do it. I actually went crappie fishing this morning. Only caught a few but it’s about to heat up. I’m headed after ducks Saturday morning. And I’ve got some big bucks I’m after but no luck so far.

    How have you been?

So just looking for opinions. Friday morning is going to be a good cold front but from 9am onward its going to blow 20-25mph all day. How would you guys hunt that or would you hunt during the high wind? Saturday is going to be even colder with 4-8mph all day. I was planning on sitting all day friday and saturday but i don't know now that its going to be so windy.

Normally I don’t waste my time with those high winds. That being said a gym buddy shot a toad last season on a day I stayed home. I think about that every time it’s been windy. It’s November, anything can happen.

    Correct.
There are 4 mass measurements regardless of how many points the buck has.
    Great buck!

Personally I'd try to find a lower place out of the strongest winds. I've had pretty good luck doing that.

    Gentleman,
I have seen the post on my inaccurate scoring of my buck. It is already at the taxidermist here in Kansas and I am headed back to Louisiana this weekend. Once he scores it I will post the correction. The taxidermist and a P&Y official scorer were there when I dropped him off. They said my scoring of him is within an inch or so, both said they thought he is a touch bigger. As I stated this was my first scoring attempt in my life. I have never worried about the size in the past. That being said this is my biggest buck ever.

Sounds great Russ! I don’t think anyone was question the score. The math was off on the right side and you forgot one more measurement. Simple mistake, easy fix. I figured he was at the Taxi already. That’s not one you let the dog chew on. That’s a real bruiser, though the one is you avatar is no slouch.

Eating breakfast then heading out. Feels like is 14 degrees. Bringing out all the late season clothes today.

    Good luck guys!

I'm trying to decide on the clothing too.
I think with the lack of wind I'll be fine. Heading to 47° today.

Let the air out of something!

Sat last night for a few hours. Was mid 50s and nothing moved. In a tree right now dropped to about 42 degrees today and will be 26 tomorrow morning. Gonna try and sit all day today and tomorrow

No worries, just hate mistakes. In the stand this morning and it was 19 degrees. Hoping to fill my doe tag today and then pheasant and bob white hunting in the morning. Good luck this weekend everyone.
