I'm shooting Gold Tip Kinetic Peirce arrows. Inserts glued in with JB Weld and they are still coming out. They move a little with every shot. I'm about at me breaking point with these arrows. They shoot great but I can't keep inserts in them.
Make sure both the inside of the arrow shaft and the insert are clean before you epoxy them in place. The most common culprit for your problem is carbon dust on the inside of the shaft, and machining oil residue on the inserts. I typically clean both with acetone before gluing and it's gotten rid of most of my problems. Also, make sure you're using fresh glue or epoxy. That stuff will go bad after the tube has been open for a while. I typically use a new tube of 2 part epoxy every time I need to glue inserts in.
Cleaned both parts and scrubbed the inside of the shaft with a wire brush and cleaned again. Just can't figure this out.
They move a little with every shot?? mic the ID of the shaft and the OD of the insert something isn't right somewhere match up the mfgr's specs on both, just a thought.
I love JB Weld but I never used it on arrows so not sure how that works. I've glued literally dozens upon dozens of GT Pierce arrows and VAPs with Goat Tough Premium Archery Glue and I've never had one come out - I usually suggest leaving the arrows sit overnight just to be safe... https://bowhunterssuperstore.com/goat-tuff-premium-grade-glue-07gm-p-342.html
I would be cautious about using acetone as it is a strong organic solvent. I used DNA when I built graphite fishing rods. Never even had acetone in the building shop.
