I skimmed the shoulder on a giant last night. A deer that has seemed almost mythical until then. On my little 9 acre spot too. Wouldn’t have helped the contest but it still hurts lol I go back to work Monday. The following weekend is Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday weekend will be my last big push with a bow till late season. I’ll keep following along the team. Let’s get some bucks down!

I wouldn’t bet on it but I’ll still give it a go. It is the first time I had seen this deer and this will the 3rd year he has been a shooter. I can’t imagine he is less then 6.5 and I think 7.5 is right. True old ghost of the woods. Can’t say I never had a chance.

This was him last year. He is bigger this year. Still can’t believe I even seen him. If I had trimmed 2 trees when I hung the stand I broke my arm in I could have shot him broadside at 25 yards. Just sick about it.

Holy moly what a deer! I’d tell you what I think he scores but you’d just be sick lol. I hope you get another crack at him. Last year I shot a156 with my bow and cut his back wide open. 8 days later I killed him. So it isn’t impossible for you to get him.

    He's got 55-60 inches in just his 2's, 3's, and 4's. That's a huge deer.

Oh wow. I think I'd pull an all nighter in the stand if I knew that guy was coming by in the morning!

Just heard from one of the neighbors that he passed on DDT this morning the opening day of rifle season!

He has broken off most of his right side and is a 9 x 2 now. Looks like he gets to live another year.

That's right. He gets another year to grow that mess and spread those genes around.

I've still not laid eyes on him in person, but the neighbor who has been seeing him regularly (who is a pretty knowledgeable and accomplished hunter) swears he's a 4 year old ... 5 tops. He's pretty sure that the deer in the 2014 pic is a different deer that was killed on another neighboring property in 2014.

I may ask permission from him to go out to his grain field one evening and "hunt" DDT with my Nikon just to get a good set of pics of him.

Sorry Ive been MIA guys. Got to get out a few times and should be back in the stand on Thursday. Several small to medium does but nothing with antlers thus far. Did find a lot of scrapes opened up this week so the bucks are there just waiting on one to show up in the daylight.

Hopefully you start seeing some bucks soon! I've seen a few small ones. All of my big boys are nocturnal except for the one day I didn't hunt lol
