Well, came back from Wyoming before the weather hit. It was -14 on the mountain yesterday. First day in the woods for a morning and evening sit. Saw 6 does and a buck at 50 yards in the brush. This evening as I was hooking up my stand 8 does came running through. Someone’s dogs north of me running the woods. Got about 10’ up and a fork horn comes trotting in. All I could do was hug the tree a watch him. Walked by at 15’. One more spike came in around dusk, circled around and walked off. Couple very used scrapes running along the creek to the south of me. Hopefully the rain holds off for a while in the morning. Like to see the buck I passed up 3 times last year. Should be a 150” this year. Fingers crossed.
Halloween was interesting. Cold, wind and snain all day. Went out this evening after getting some landscaping done for my bride. Creek was higher than I expected and my boots. Paralleled the creek to an old dry slough I’ve hunted before. Several rubs and scrapes in the area, so felt pretty good. Up the tree and here comes the wind! Back and forth like a drunken sailor for 3 hours. Did see a small fork horn and a groundhog of all things. Guess it wasn’t such a bad day. Haven’t see a gh running through the woods in years. Busy tomorrow, but back out Saturday for a couple weeks straight. Man I love retirement!
Got skunked tonight. Nothing moving, or I dorked it up. Even the does did not enter the south field. Maybe they vacationed in Florida for this early cold snap. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
I went after the Sika again this morning. We had a 20° drop in temperature and WNW winds. Couldn't resist and it paid off. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Madison County, Rosewood Heights. I hunt Greene County and Scott County, though. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm guessing live weight 60-65 lbs. She is actually a big hind (doe). Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
First frost of the season. Awesome morning. Had late movement. 5 does and a decent 1 1/2 year old buck. He was a bit goofy in that his left side was normal 8pt frame and right side went kinda straight up then branched out. He was out cruising. Had a 110” 8pt dogging a doe this evening. Light rain, 3:45 pm. Could have, know there’s bigger ones out there. Hitting the river stand in the morning. Haven’t hunted it this year and only a couple times last year. Three years ago I took 2 bucks, 7 days apart from the same tree. Hope it smiles on me tomorrow.
Well, I dropped the ball this morning. I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I took a small doe. I didn’t get the required photos, so I guess I’ll have to take the next one. Here’s the photo I did get of her.
You must be hunting a better area than me. That would be my best buck with a bow if that is the 8 point it appears to be. Or, is it a 6 point? Hard tell if there are brow tines with that angle. Congrats on the doe.
