I was wishing we had a scale yesterday but we didn't. We could only guess, and that guess was somewhere between 230 and 250 on the hoof - because we had to drag him a ways. Both of us actually had to pull hard going downhill. Going uphill was one step and one pull at a time.

So after this mornings walk in I decided I needed to check things out...Wish I hadn't, glad I did...8 trails totally blocked 6 by actual trees and 2 by limbs. So I loaded up saw and leaf blower. Just got back. 66 degrees too warm for my liking and well too tired now also. From that buck pic I posted you can see trees are pretty bare. so that was the last time the blower goes out on that side of road. I have not hunted the house side yet so only cleaned those once. Good Luck out there guys. I'll be out in the morning again .. So many track on those trails!

Was hoping to sneak out of work early today so I could get in the stand... Not happening. I've got an "appointment" at the deer stand tomorrow afternoon that just showed up on the work calendar.

Thanks LC. I was just wondering about some Missouri CA areas up there. Tired of looking at does and little bucks! Lol!

I am now up and reporting for PM shift. Pondering if I should stay set up or move about 10 miles NW at a piece of CA that planted corn and left about 6 rows near a small river???

I may have asked this before and if I have I apologize for not remembering, but what part of SE MO are you in? Close to the Poplar Bluff / Ellsinore area at all?

I'm like 100-125 miles NNE from the area you just mentioned. I swear I just heard the SE MO deer herd gasp.......

Skunked this morning, but after a two hour nap and a trip to town to buy a new grunt tube, I’m here in the stand getting blown at by a deer up wind of me... dropping milkweed and its not going anywhere near that way. Oh well.

Just settled in. First sit in new spot along the back edge of the property. I’m between two bedding areas tucked against a funnel of cover between the two areas. The other side of me is rather open with plenty of acorns. Brought the x bow tonight for the added range in the open and into the funnel.

Battery is low so I’ll check back at the truck. Good luck!

Could be a doe blowing at a small buck chasing her.

I saw that happen in my first day hunting in the midwest (Illinois). I heard her blowing and thought,,"Awesome, you drove 1800 miles to get busted by a doe..." and all of a sudden I see her running towards me with 5 shooter bucks dogging her, all grunting.
