I wish we had one like this locally..
Most shops here look at you like you are asking to take their wife home for a night if you ask to paper tune!

Shops around here pretend to know how to set up a bow and paper tune for newbies. I'd much rather they just not offer it than pretend. Seen some awful setups.

Not sure where in Virginia you are, but if you ever make it around Fauquier county, stop in at Hoffman Archery. They are the best shop I've ever been in. Everybody will bend over backwards to help you.

20 mins south of richmond...have 4 shops within 30-40 mins of me.. they are all ok, but I wouldn't say the are pure archery shops.. fishing, guns, bows etc.. not totally dedicated to archery

Billy at Greentop maybe the best I have seen. He's patient, he's smart, but hes only one person.

I agree. It's hard to find. The guy in this video seems like the real deal. I've been to a couple shops that know what they are doing, but treat you like you're stupid for asking a question. On the flip side, some people are nice, but dont know what they are doing. He seems to be a rare bird that's a good guy and knowledgeable. Thanks for the video

Build or buy a bow vise and draw board. Then go on Youtube and do it yourself. It has been a game changer for me. No more trips to a shop. If something gets off or I need a new string, I'm good.

All we have around here are a Sportsman's Warehouse and a North40 with "techs" in their archery sections. About 50% of them seem to know what they're doing. You get your bow worked on and then go straight home and French tune to see if it's close or needs to go back.
They need to pay them more, the turnover is pretty high. Just when you wade through several and find one that knows what their doing, they up and leave and you have to start over again.

Unfortunately my local shop just closed. Can’t blame him. I’m not the type to buy a new bow every other year so my small purchase once every year or two didn’t help him.

the closet shop to me is about 15 mins away and I have been going there for 30 years. last visit he told me he would probably close in less than 2 years.. said he can't sell vertical bows any more and can't compete with big stores on xbow sales..

The best stores we had around here that actually had guys that knew what was going on and had anything you needed already closed. I went there to buy stuff here and there or use their range but like everyone else, he couldnt run huge sales and beat the box stores. He liquidated everything he owned to keep the store open and got to the point where he couldnt cover building lease anymore and closed. I like a good deal like everyone else but now wish more of these little places got more business.

I agree I’m 15 minutes from there and have been going there for what I would guess is at least 25 years. They have really grown since then but always seem to have guys that know what’s going on. Biggest complaint is it’s always so busy. You have to choose a good time to go or get there before they open to be one of the first in line.

I’ve been fortunate to have a top notch local shop within 3 miles of my home for several years now. Hulen Sanders of Sanders Archery. Great guy who knows his stuff and always willing to go the extra mile. We’ve been friends for many years.
