Who uses what and why? I have used both but sometimes in the moment I tend to pick the wrong pin. Has anyone else had this problem?
4 and 5 pin sights. I haven’t shot past 40 yards at anything with a pulse and probably won’t. But that could change if I get to the point I can make a 50 or 60 yard shot consistently. Probably could do for 3 pins instead of 4 and 5. I like the multipin Incase I need to range the animal. I don’t have to adjust the single pin afterwards. Or worse... guess. no trees to sit in here so a lot is spot and stalk for the most part. Sometimes you can’t get closer than 30 or 40 yards. You can put a blind up at water though. Not had a problem picking the wrong pin so far. Have you had your eyes checked recently?
When I used to shoot a 5 pin sight I had my top pin set at 25. After that it was 40, 50, 60 and 70. Now I have a Spot Hogg 2 pin sight. I hunt with the top pin at 25 yards. I just aim 2" low at 20 yards and 2" high at 30. The second pin is good at 35 yards. In the event I need to shoot past 35 yards, if I don't have time to adjust the sight I probably shouldn't take the shot anyway.
I like the adjustable single pin for that reason of possibly picking the wrong one. I figure anything over 30 you should be able to adjust slightly for 35 or anything under 30. Aim higher or little lower. Anything past 35 I want exact yardage and time to dial in. The only exception in my mind where a multipin would be advantage is elk hunting. I’ve thought about 3 pin with slider for elk. Still like the view of single pin though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have one of each. Single pin Spot Hogg on my Triax and a 5 pin Trophy Ridge on my BTX-28. I like the 5 pin for every reason a multi-pin sight is good and I like the single pin for all the reasons a single pin is good. It all just comes down to personal preference.
4 pin slider, love it so far. Doesn't solve any of the op issues though. For me, 20 30 40 slider. So i basically have my hunting pins and then can practice out at distance. Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
