Hey guys, remember back in September I sent those pictures when my wife and I were down there in Florida? Well everything was great, or so I thought and 2 days after we got back my wife said she was done and was leaving me. Never saw it coming. The love of my life for almost 35 years. Deer hunting and chatting with you guys have been my only saving grace through all of this. Sorry to hear that your going through one as well.

This may be a " to hell with the target buck and shoot the first decent thing that walks by year".

Back and hip feel super sore but I am heading out, got friends on standby for dragging if needed.

This morning saw a deer walk by my stand before it got light. Couldn't tell what it was. Then about 8:20 I saw a 1 1/2 year old buck and he was with about a 150" 10 point. My son didn't see any from his stand but neighbors on the adjacent property were being real noisy by his spot so his hunt was kind of busted from the start.

I'm heading out Monday evening, suppose to be a big front coming in so I'm hoping the deer will be on the move.

I'm thinking I need to mix it up a bit - last couple times out I haven't seen much. Saw a doe crossing a skidder trail just before end of shooting time Friday night and spooked a doe walking in last night but didn't see a single thing Saturday or Sunday in the morning/evening. Getting a little frustrated. I had some selective cutting done at my primary hunting land in the spring and while I know it'll be great next year, this year has been a struggle. The deer have completely changed up all their patterns and all the places that were hot in past years are practically deserted this year. The logging also made it damn near impossible to find any deer sign. Every single tree looks like its got a rub on it from where it got bumped with the skidder and there is bare dirt everywhere so I can't tell if I found a scrape or if its just bare ground left over from the logging. Haven't had a decent rain in 4-5 months either so the red clay soil we have is hard as a rock so there aren't even deer tracks I can follow. Occasionally ive stumbled across some deer turds, but none of the ones i've seen are remotely fresh. Hopefully things are going to change soon... We finally got a decent rain this past weekend and that softened the ground up a lot so I should be able to scout and find some fresh tracks and the leaves are starting to fall so once we get some ground cover then i'll be able to find some scrapes. I did put up half a dozen trail cameras in new locations over the weekend so hopefully I will get lucky and one of those will show me some activity when I check on it and I ordered 4 new hang-ons that should be here tonight so I can get set up at some new spots if I can ever find them. If anybody has any other suggestions I am open to any advice I can get.

My hip is feeling better after resting it the last few days. I still did not make the hike all the way in to the woods to pull cards so I really have no idea what I have for bucks other than the land owner telling me he has seen "Stickers" a few times. Depending on how the hip feels after I walk in and hunt Saturday morning I may do that.

Hoping to get a decent amount of hunting in this weekend. Took Monday and Tuesday off so I’ll have Saturday morning, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Tuesday the low is 26 so a 20 degree drop in temps. I hope to at least have a doe on the ground.

Nothing this evening. Hunt was a bust. Hoping these next 2 mornings are good. Saturday morning will be right before a big front rolls in, hoping it's real good then.
