Keep at it early! You'll get another chance when he's thinking with his other head!

It happens. That's bow hunting I know that when I was using a crossbow I would take more quartering to or even frontal shots Cause of the scope and more accuracy, speed and penetration. But it bit me too once and I never recovered the deer after tracking in the snow all the next day. I did see that deer the next year on camera. You could see the scar and a little limp, but he made it. They are tough critters.

Thanks Logman, that's what I'm hoping. I hate wounding a deer!

    Morning all!

Assume everyone is in the woods this week or weekend?!

Looking at the weather my plan right now is for Thursday evening, Friday evening and Saturday morning hunts. Saturday afternoon and Sunday are a little too far out for me to be able to tell. I know cameras showed a few of our nice bucks still hanging around the property just before shooting light so mornings have been ideal.

I’m hoping Friday or weekend to be out. One thing or another has kept coming up. Started hockey for my older kid yesterday. There’s a sport that won’t exactly open up time... but now with cooler temps coming im hoping our other stuff is settling and some deer will be back through when I get out.
Just skinned a fresh road hit spike. Free tag and couple hours and should have nice enough pile of meat. Takes the pressure off hunting some having meat in the freezer and tough to pass up considering how much time money and effort goes into hunting for it

I was out this evening. Soccer game tomorrow evening. Then I should be out Friday evening, all day Saturday and then Sunday morning. VT has been really slow, NJ was unexpectedly slow as well. But I expect that it's almost time for things to pop!

I'll be doing my first all day sit on Sat. I think in my parts, you can see a buck pretty much any time about now. The seeking should be getting under way. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Good luck guys! :tu:

Sorry I’ve been mia since I got to Missouri guys. I put 50 pts in the board for the good guys this morning. It’s been a rough trip to say the least so I decided to use one of my either sex tags on this good eater doe. I’ll get get a couple more pictures and get her entered later tonight. I’m all done for the competition but will definitely stay active. Good luck to all of you guys! Image1571935847.690197.jpg

Thanks early! I wish I took pics of the blood trail. I honestly thought I brisket shot her because of the way she reacted. She ran 30 yards looked back towards the stand and then walked off another 40-50 yards and fell off the edge of the ditch. I had some bubbles in the blood but it looked like it was pouring out of the bottom of her, but what I think happened was the exit was considerably lower and her cavity was never able to fill up and come out of the entrance hole. There was maybe only a half gallon of blood in her chest cavity.

I’ve got one more sit in the morning to get it done on a nice buck. The weather is finally cooperating and should be high 20s low 30s in the morning. So hopes are high!

That should get things moving. I’m hoping for similar conditions here next week to finally wake things up, and should be starting some chasing up too. Good luck for the morning, would love to see more pics and a good finishing story

I was happy getting my pile of meat off my roadkill deer yesterday. Cleaned up scraps early to get rid of this morning and came inside to grab my kid and go and had a wolf coming into the yard. He saw me then went to far edge of the field and watched us and wouldn’t leave. Been a lot of them again on cam and now a few daytime sightings. Hopefully they find somewhere else to bother soon

I'm out. Sitting in a light rain. I like hunting small weather systems.
