Hi everyone, I have recently just moved to Oklahoma and live in the Tulsa area. I was wondering if anyone had some advice on where to hunt for public land near Tulsa. I’m from Texas and have only hunted on my private land there so I’m new to public hunting in general so if y’all have any general tips or advice I’d love to hear it also! Thanks!
Welcome to Oklahoma! You have missed out on a all the draw hunts for this year but there are still plenty of public land spots. I would start here. https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/olap And if you have no luck with that then here is the state lands. https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/wildlife-management-areas I'm in OKC so do not know too much about lands around Tulsa but I used to put in for the Traditional archery hunt at the Mcalister ammo depot. Before I owned a place I drove a lot of backroads, knocked a lot of doors and did plenty of farm chores to gain access, its surprisingly easy to find a private spot to hunt here.
Just a little more info for you. https://www.swt.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Hunting-Information/ Lots of Corp land in Oklahoma as well.
Im from a town that is just about an hour NE of Tulsa. I havn't public hunted yet, just private land stuff but I grew up in the area and have family that have public hunted a lot. I've heard that around Oologah Lake isnt too bad as well as land out by Wagoner/Tahlequah is pretty good. Both isnt a bad drive from Tulsa.
