Is it to early to use a buck decoy tonight

Is it to early to use a buck decoy? Im in northern illinois.

 

I would say no. I'm getting quite a few photos of bucks sparring and chasing right now.

 

Cool im gunna try it. Never used one before. I had 3 smaller bucks out in the field next to me

 

I would say yes and no. Really depends on your area. The guys on THP used on the other night and had a buck come right in. I’d say younger deer may respond a little better to it right now than an older deer may.

Should i not have the decoy out where all the does were feeding. Will it spook them

 

In my experience it hasn’t made any difference this early. I think later on when they have been chased all over they may not be crazy about seeing him.

I watched three bucks a couple nights ago. The dominant one definitely checked out the others. There wasn’t any overt displays of aggression. Next chance I get I will be bringing the decoy.

I had mine in the truck last night but decided against it at the last minute. We’ve had bucks sparring on camera as well. Honestly there’s only one way to find out..

 

Didnt have any luck with it guys. I didnt see any deer either. Saw close to 15 deer the other night.
