Dead quiet here, not much wind, less action. Last hour is upon us. In a small section of woods b/ t thick nasty bedding and a green field they like to feed in.

Got busted by two spikes that I didn’t think would be and moving. 10 yards. I was working back to bedding area in a creek. We had a five minute stair down. Not sure if the bigger buck was behind them or not

Empty sit for me tonight. Off to the brush lot in the morning. Might try a light tickling of the antlers.

So ,say please and you can win...if you phrase the ask properly. As in please , please let them come in from the SSE... AND give me a clean kill shot. Because pointy breast doe came in went broad side at 31, feeding. I was ready had ranged her. Start my draw and she turned butt to me then fed straight away. I Do Not do Texas heart shots.

Haha, I'm already pushing that fine line right now with the wife. I did send that meme to her a couple years ago. She laughed!

Holy chit did my evening pick up. Nothing dead but... a week ago, the combine made one pass around the out side of the field. I was running ground game tonight, which is proving to be pretty productive this year. If the two spikes I saw woulda been does, I’d be butchering right now.
Anyway, I worked my way out into the field with the combined strip around it. I kneeled down on at the end of a point in the field looking down the combine swath. Right before dark a doe pops out and starts working towards me but got hung up munching on beans. What ever...

Well the neighbors dog barked. 8 other does come running into the field with in 40 yards of me. I’m on one knee. Drew my bow stood up. Too dark to shoot, but it was a crazy experience

You think they are bedding nearby but maybe a bit more elevated due to puddling where they currently bed?

Just thinking, the time it was raining and you didn't see them doesn't necessarily mean they weren't on their feet making rubs and such, they were just where you weren't able to see the..

Yes very possible. There is a great bench in the side of the hill that I would suspect one of them to bed. I forgot I did hear him up there that night it was raining. I could hear him making scrapes, rubbing and chasing deer around. Now the problem is its on someone else's property, so I can't get near them when up on that ridge. But with this 3 day muzzle loader season, it should push them back to the swamp.

I would've updated but left my phone in my blue jeans. I may have been in a rush. I saw the first buck of the year for me tonight! Just a young forkie but had him at 10 yards and he had no clue I was there. That's 3 sits in a row seeing deer and they keep getting better. I think in the next 10 days its gonna get wild here.
