I’m up. First cold snap of the season and sitting over a hardwood flat on a new section of property.

Went out last night and had a good night. Bout had a big doe but she held up about 2 steps from where had a shot and trotted off other way. Next time get in that stand that problem will be fixed tho. Few branches need trimmed. Ended up seeing dozen deer or so. All doe cept one little fork horn. Had family stuff today so didn't get out at all but hoping to get a hunt in tomorrow

Well messed up today. I was texting a buddy at 6:15pm that I hadn't seen anything and when I looked up I had a huge buck with dark chocolate rack at 20 yards. Needless to say I didn't get a shot. I did get him briefly on my Tactacam. Here is a screenshot of him. Screenshot_20191012-202817.jpeg

I'm guessing you are also a bigfoot documenter?

    Sorry, couldn't resist

As for first to score for the team, I'd have to put my money on jrk. Seems to see deer every sit and doesn't need a lot of time to sneak on stand if given the chance.

First weekend of November will be my next outing. Regardless of the calendar stating November, I will shoot a doe if given the chance. Been burned too many times waiting on the buck that never came after a group of does passed through.

We will get going soon. Im a big believer in “can’t kill from the couch”. With guys putting in time it’ll happen.

So had a change of plans and didn't get to make it out at all today. We'll be pouring pretty good sized floor tomorrow morning and woulda been hard to be able to come back in the morning and track something if need be.

So I've been sitting around all day thinking about the other night. My stand on the edge of a bean field is a ladder stand and has been a really good stand over the years but I've watched deer enter and leave the field almost in the same spot all the time. Now there's a fence around the edge that forms a barrier from where they can come and go into field. But the spot they've been using is also where the flood gap is in the fence across creek. So I've been thinking of moving another stand that doesn't get much action to that spot and trying it out. Like said the ladder is nice and its in a good spot but the seer either work along fence right by it or turn and go other way. So I guess would it be worth it to try new spot if it can be done or should i just stay with what's working. I'm not really planning on goin right on top of where they're coming out but if I can close the distance it might present more shot opportunities. Right now when they come out I'm 75-100 yars out and wanted to try getting with in 30 or so depending on what trees look like. Probably gonna keep ladder stand so will still have options depending on wind and it's a good gun spot. Can cover most of field with shotgun ha.

The pic show kinda what I'm talking about. The purple line is roughly the fence and orange marker is current stand. Where the line kinda 90's on left side of pic is about area where I'm talking about moving to. Also where the line starts on the right is a gateway where deer come off the neighbors. More often than not they work left to right goin that way so usually have some good shot opportunities. But when they come out on right sometimes they follow fence somewhat or they go more across middle of field but they enter woods where that 90 is and cross creek into bigger brush area.[IMG]
