So far just one big doe under me. Walked a huge ridge out with multiple clearcuts and finally came on to some massive fresh rubs. Downwind of some super thick stuff with the rub line between me and it. On some heavy oaks so hoping he follows it out. Super deep in here so can't get on my phone a whole lot.. Sitting on the private for the first time today. In a spot where literally anything could happen. I’d shoot a giant doe if I saw one but hoping a random nice buck walks by. Bad news is I checked my cameras after being out for a month and I had maybe one Or two pictures of bucks I would shoot lol not that uncommon for this property after acorns fall though. Lots of does so bucks will start randomly appearing soon. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ended up seeing six, couple big does but either out of range or on the wrong die of the fence. Had 3 1.5 year old bucks sniffing the legs of my stand. Neat hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The good news is, if we really need points late and I haven’t gotten a buck I can pry take a 1.5 year old without feeling bad. I think we have about 10 on the private farm area lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If you've got that many it sure doesn't hurt to shoot them ... and that's the best eating size too! Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Back to work fellas. Thinking i might take it easy this next week anyway lol I have yet to see a buck that means anything...i know the time is almost here. That last week of October is usually my week. Keep posting guys! The time is almost upon us! Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Working on my doe still. Wind is dreadful for all of my stands so I'm in a stand of oaks in a pasture in my pop up blind. This is the property that I've put the least amount of time into so I'm not sure of the deer patterns, just that they come out and eat acorns - so this is as good a spot as any. There is a small herd of sheep in the pasture but that usually doesn't bother deer unless they are competing for corn at a feeder which isn't the case here. Like most pastures around here this one has been somewhat overgrazed so the leaves and branches start at about chest high. That makes for an ideal place to put a pop up in the middle of a cluster of oaks. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Last year pic. I passed the him 100 times. Now this year! He’s officially on the list. Here’s a few more small bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You an me both. I had 4 in the 120s last year that have yet to show up so if they show and grow like he did I’ll be pretty excited. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Snuck out to a random tree with sign by it on the public land. In a area I haven’t been in before. Didn’t see squat lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Heading out tomorrow and it is definitely getting on! OK/Sooner, I would kill any of those “small” bucks in my area... must be awesome to be able to have that many bucks to choose from! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Going for broke tonight. The wind is blowing in the right direction. Those bucks on Monday were out in the corner of this field and I played it safe. From what I know of the property it’s not a great rut spot, so I’m gonna give it my best go tonight and get high and tight to where they were. If I was a betting man I bet they probably go directly to the spot where I was on Monday, LOL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Went and checked my camera at our cabin this morning. It’s time to get serious now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
