I went in for Chest X-Rays yesterday since my cough is not going away. This is killing me now with pain in my ribs to not being able to hunt. There is no deer that will come to a coughing hunter. I am in hopes that the meds kick in stronger so that I can get out this weekend. We shall see.

That is one GIANT deer. Congrats to the hunter. I can only dream about a buck like that. Maybe one day but not going to hold my breath.

Hunted with my buddy tonight since he is going out of state tomorrow for 2 months for work I set him up in a stand I knew he’d for sure see some deer and sure enough he smoked a doe. I on the other hand also shot a doe... 2 times..... and the damn thing ran probably 300 yards with great blood. I really can’t believe I didn’t find it tonight I’ve never seen a deer as tough as her lol I’m gonna take up the blood trail after work tomorrow and see where she finally laid down

I was hoping to be able to get home and hunt this weekend, but plans changed and that little dream crashed & burned lol! Sights are set on the 18th, cannot wait to be done with this job in KY.

Negative on my doe. Tracked her into a thick bedding and was skeptical if I wanted to continue the track and then I looked up and saw a bed with shrubs just shredded all around it and I backed out not wanting to scare any bucks.. I’m positive she bedded down and expired in there but I just don’t wanna kick my shooter out of the area..

^^^this^^^ what makes you think you didn’t bump him already? Usually they will put up with an intrusion or 2. Especially if you are certain she is dead.

I lost blood 50 yards before the thicket yesterday. Dried blood was super hard to spot. but that’s where she was headed so I’m assuming she went in there. But I don’t have permission to go any farther than I did because there was a property stake right in front of where I stopped and it’s been 2 days in the upper 70s... I just don’t see me recovering her. I know you guys will judge me but it’s not the way I wanted it to end.

I’m sorry, I didn’t realize it had been that long, and across a property line. From your first post, it sounded like you just shot her and left her. My Apologies, and I’m sorry your track ended like that.

I thought you stopped the track only because you saw bedding. It all is relevant to details and circumstances. I miss understood and thought you were tracking good blood, saw buck sign and stopped only because you saw buck bedding sign.

I can totally relate to property issues. My son shot a deer last year with his 357. It was a big doe and mid sept early season. Shot was possible single lung maybe neck. Shot in evening tracked in dark until property line I did not have permission to access. (County sheriffs personal property) had to give up the track since I could not get permission until next day. Too warm for meat to be good and we have coyotes as well. Not sure if she survived or not. I have since talked to sheriff, really nice guy and a hunter, and have his cell number to text him when I need to track on his property.

Sorry for jumping to conclusions. Like stated above thought it was only because of buck sign. Now let’s move on and kill some deer. Lol

In a tree this morning. Low 40s and a little breezy. Hoping to get on the board. Freezes empty. Not much will get a pass from me today.

Saw nothing. Cold front came through yesterday and I was hoping the deer would be moving. I got down at 10:30 and did some scouting. It rained all day Friday so there was not too many fresh tracks other than what I believe is a buck near a fresh rub. Probably happened at night. Trail camera showed some does coming through a couple times this past week in the morning during daylight so they are still around. Just trying to figure these deer out this year. Movement isn’t the same as usual.

Got myself another nice doe this morning down at a friends cabin. Will post pics later. Freezer is full and now it’s time to sit and wait for a brute!

Congrats on the doe! You already have your doe for the contest entered so no worries on no bow pic here.
