Very nice! Congrats! PA should have a great opening morning on Saturday. Supposed to cool to a high of 60. I pulled a camera I keep in a brushy area around bedding and was very surprised to see multiple shooters using the same trail almost daily for the past month plus. I don't usually focus on bucks til after I fill a doe tag but I'll be sneaking into a tree for a chance at an opening day buck! It's tight shooting but a good ambush spot. Great background in a pine tree. Hoping the wind cooperates. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Saw 2 does and one button buck tonight. Had a little button hanging out under me for quite some time eating acorns. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Looking good, fellas! Should I modify the rules to have elk count towards our point total? Not sure when I'll officially get my IL season kicked off. Weather is crappy today again and I've got other plans for tomorrow afternoon, then kids sports and other misc things all weekend. I may sneak out for a hunt or two depending on weather/wind this weekend. If not, maybe I'll get around to it next week. I'm in no huge hurry to hit the woods right this second. Pacing myself early so I can hit it hard when things actually get good.
I was trying to get out this afternoon but my helper didn’t come to work today so no hunting for me. I’m planning to go out Sunday morning.
Out for PA opener, saw 2 doe, passed on the fawn, no shot on momma. Very nice morning but so quiet in the woods. I heard 4 other deer before daylight, bounced one and the rest snorted. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Not much going on here, have only seen one doe two fawns and a Bear. Rain almost every day. Got a week left till I head for MD, got some good ones on camera there.
Didn’t make it out this weekend. Got a cold front moving in Friday so planning to hunt Friday evening . Good luck to everyone!
Had a small buck come in Friday pm. No shot. Found out the 9 point I was after got shot by a guy I know son. He must be much closer than I assumed anyone was. Oh well happy for the guy. 22 year old and first rack buck with bow. I’ll try to get out a couple afternoons this week to shoot something Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I only managed to hunt once this weekend and didn't see a living creature of any sort. Fitting start to my season.
Ugh... sucks Justin Another windy washout here. It seems every year when season starts so does the rain. The only nice day was Saturday and I couldn't get out. I hope to tomorrow. The rest of the week looks like a wash until Sat and I have a wedding to go to... ugh. I may go in AM depending on weather
Not sure if anyone was following along in the LFTS but I liver and gut shot a nice buck this weekend... unfortunately I punched the shot and didn’t end up finding him, gave him plenty of time, tracked really dark blood for 200 yards found a bed, he clotted up and had no sign leaving the bed, brought a friends hound in the next day couldn’t find anything, grid searched the entire property and some bedding on the neighbors property. Sucks!!! But it’s part of the sport, going to be working on my form a lot this week Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Exactly Justin! It happens. It certainly is part of it. I have lost a few over the years and it is never easy. Keep your head up and get the next one. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Although I’m sure already have. Keep your eyes peeled for crows. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Bummer, I lost a 160+ in Kentucky in 2015. Made it onto some private land I had no permission to be on, went in right on a fence line so I left notes on both gates. After I got back to Michigan Both land owners called and said it would have been ok to look for my deer. Makes me sick every time I think about it. You got plenty of time left, hopefully you'll drop the string on another good one soon. Good Luck.
We had a nice cold front moving through over the weekend and I got out with my brother. Trying to get him his first archery deer. Had a doe pass down along the creek about 75 yards away early and then had a small 6 come in to about 15 yards. It’s wild having them close when you’re on the ground.
