Congrats on the Elk Johnny! It was a slow day at work so I was able to slip out and check a few cameras and move a stand. Nothing to exciting on camera. I did get some better video of a borderline 10 point. I think he will be a nice deer next year or two. I also hope I don't see him on the hoof cause I only have one mature buck on camera so far and he won't score to high. Good luck to those getting out.
Me and a buddy are going to strategically hunt a field tonight where a lot of does have been coming out in the hopes that one of us will get a shot regardless of what they do. And then.... Thursday has a high of 80 and a low of 67 but Friday is a High of 63 ad a low of 44 so...I am sitting all day Friday on an acorn ridge where I have lots of photos of big bucks. If it's going to happen it will happen friday with that insane temp drop!
I'm just sitting here waiting for my season to open up....its like watching grass grow... 20 more days...Congrats to all of you that have put something down! Keep it going guys!
I'm hoping to get out later this week and or weekend. Good Luck, everyone! Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
We are used to it down here. the problem I am going to have is readjusting to the cold when I head to Kansas 20-27 Oct and 04-11 Nov this year. It has been years since I have own winter hunting gear. I am still researching what will economical and effective.
Best of luck up here!! Where in KS are you going? Economical. I don't think I've ever found economical and warm in the same aisle. I've had great luck with my Sitka base layers.
Cut out of work early to pick up my doe from the butcher so I figured I would try and get a little more work done at the lease. I was able to get a bunch done despite the rain. I ever stumbled across this on my way out. I have the worst luck shed hunting. I know this deer pretty well and had a bunch of pictures of him so it was a cool find for me. LOL what is ever economical when buying hunting gear. I will be hunting around my home town Delphos, KS (north central). the main chunk I am hunting is an 800 acre river bottom area. I have access to 2000 acres around the county. it is all family land.
Lets see, I am not the best at math but 2800 acres of hunting land divided among the 12 of us here on Team 9 is about 233 acres each. Tell me what week you want me there and I can make that happen. Also, my babysitting plans got changed as did the weather (heavy rain) so i will be in the stand this afternoon after duty and NOT tomorrow as planned. I hope to give you all a full report later.
A spike at 1743 hours which came out 45 yards to my left & continued to walk east A forky at 1822 hours which came out at same spot as the spike & walked straight to me, stopping at 5 yards & did not like what he felt & turned around & walked away A big boy then appeared to my right and was 10 yards away but I was not holding my bow as I was watching the forky Nothing after 1822 hours but it was very enjoyable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's a great place to hunt!! I used to hunt ground around Clay Center. That was a LONG time ago!! Best of luck!!
Sat last night and had 2 does hang out at 20-30 yards for about an hour. Nothing besides that unfortunately. Currently in the stand this morning and the woods are dead so far.
The weather is definitely much better than it has been. It dropped form the mid to upper 80's on Wednesday to a high of 60 yesterday. May try to get out this evening if I can get away from work. Good Luck, everyone!!!!
Congrats on the kills fellas! Tomorrow morning is the season opener here in PA. Got some stands set this week and will be much more active here on the forum now. I have a few nice bucks on camera, nothing to gloat about, but since I solely hunt public land, I am happy with any buck that comes my way.
I posted a pic of this buck in the Live From The Stand thread but thought I'd post it here. This is the first decent buck I've gotten on camera here at my home property this year. He walked through my plot 15 yards from the tree I climbed 2 1/2 hours later. I'm not gonna lie - I'd shoot him but looking at his body he looks like he's only a 2 1/2 year old. Do y'all agree?
