Anyone have preferred ratchet straps for permanent stands exposed all year?

I'd like to secure some ladder stands my uncle had put up years ago. I replaced a strap on one stand 2 years ago that was dry rotted/sun worn.

I don't think Harbor Freight is the way to go here, but I'm also not wanting to break the bank for something that gets replaced every few years.

Keep in mind, these are ladder stands not hang ons where all the weight is placed to the strap.

If you have a local farm store or a tractor supply, they usually have them.

Yeah, I can get them no problem.

Was thinking out loudly lol, wondering if there was any true weatherpoof, water and UV resistant straps that would last several years.

Ladder stands are a lot different as far as weight bearing when compared to hang ons.

A couple aren't so bad, but one is in a huge oak that I'd likely need an extension pole to run the strap around the diameter of the tree. 20' two man stand and I'd bet it is a 16-17 foot circumference at seat level.

I would just go case by case. If the straps look like they served in both world wars I’d replace them. I try to replace mine at the beginning of every season though.

I switched my ladders over to chain and use a lever binder. I got a little fancy and locked the bar down with some bailing wire.

As previously stated any Tractor Supply store carries them. I watch for them on sale and can pick up 6 of the 12’ straps for around 20 bucks. We change out all straps annually. Cheap insurance! Good Luck

I just get the red hyperforce ones from Wally World. They last 2-3 seasons if the squirrels don’t get em

All my hang ons have two ratchet straps on them...and always get a new one each year. I buy the big packs anywhere I see a good deal; walmart, lowes, local ag stores, sportsmansguide.com really anywhere. I know some say that's overkill each year but worth it IMO. The one strap taken off of the stands each year get switched to hold any ladder/sticks to the tree then....middle sections if a continous interlocking piece are not as pivotal for fresh ones as the very bottom and the very top one. *Use a lifeline as well.

You want to get straps that are made from polyester and not nylon. Poly straps won't fade or get brittle in the sun the way that nylon ones will. Most of the cheapo straps (Harbor Freight) are thinner nylon and just don't hold up with time.

I'd give another vote for RatchetStraps.com. I've never had an issue with any of their products. At the same time I've had good look with straps from Home Depot and Menards as well.
