    Good morning LFTS! So it was one hell of an opener one that I doubt I’ll beat real soon. Here’s the rundown on my buck from last night.

    I got in fairly early, around 5:15, and just sat back to take in the views and actually dozed off for a bit. I saw my first 3 deer on the west end of the field which was the first shady spot at 6:30. I watched them for about 45 minutes and then had a doe and two fawns come out of a small thicket at 50 yards. I knew something had to happen because light was fading fast at this point. At around 7:45 I basically called it a night, I hung up my bow and was just getting ready to clear the field with a coyote howl when I heard something to my left in the beans. This buck slipped in on me bad and the first time I saw him he was at 25 yards. I grabbed my bow and drew in one motion gave him the famous “meh” and let it fly. I was 95% positive I heard the deer crash but I couldn’t see him. I looked at my phone and I had 8 minutes of legal shooting light left! I quickly got down to find my arrow and backed out until about 8:45. The blood trail was fantastic and ended at my biggest Michigan buck!

    Back in stand. Jumped some deer on my way in then had one walk in while I was climbing up. Who knows whats next

    Up in the stand waiting on daylight. It is dead calm and hot this morning. Every little noise I hear is a giant buck passing by me in the dark. At least that's what I tell myself.

    I'm perched on the edge of a swamp on a dry strip that runs between the swamp and an inside corner of an ag field. It's well into legal shooting light but this swamp is always so dark I can't hardly see anything yet. I'm hoping to catch something transitioning from the ag field to the bedding area along this dry strip of ground.
