This morning has been a complete disaster...got to my tree and took my stand off my back. Put the first stick on the tree and realized I didn't have my safety harness on......walked all the way back to the car. Searched it. No harness. By then my dad's rolling in. Luckily he had one on him. Got back to my tree and deer blowing at me like crazy lol early season problems...ready to get the dust knocked off this.. There’s nothing like it. I’ve killed one with a bow before and always have shot opportunities. However this was the first year we just wasn’t in them. The last two days we got o chase bill bulls. When we pulled up to our trail head last Friday there were 17 trucks there! Never seen anything like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Our season opens tomorrow! I’m not going to hunt until this weekend when we have a small front some through. Its to hot right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey guys and update. This weekend was in the high 90s so decided to put a few ladder stands together and get them deployed in Virginia. Walked the property there again and starting to get a feel of it. The woods were selective cut 5 years ago so the under brush is thick. Going to be interesting to see what this place produces. Lots of oaks scattered throughout the property. The buddy Im leasing the property with is a rifle hunter kinda feel guilty getting in there before he starts but I did offer him the crossbow and he declined. This weekend is supposed to be in mid 70s for high with low in the 40s. definitely gonna be in a stand then. Good luck to all and please be safe.
Got my first sit in this morning. I was a little rusty but not too bad. Was fiddling with my new thermacell ( which is awesome by the way) and a decent 8 snuck in behind me and caught my scent/movement. Probably not a shooter for me but still exciting to see a buck first thing. Had one other doe blow at me. I hate hunting mornings because of how much my scent looks at the base of my tree. Also saw two turtles and a coyote. Ol Wiley stayed out of range. But a fun start. Huge cold front coming Friday so I’ll be on the woods then for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last sit tonight until the front on Friday. I've moved into the woods and off the corn. Gonna be set up in range of a pond and a cattle spring in the oaks. Rubs and scrapes everywhere. Might get lucky who knows lol after a doe but I'm in the big boys neck of the woods on the other side of the farm now so time will tell! Probably 200 yards from where ive killed my biggest deer to date and the wind is perfect! Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
