First hunt of the season. The wind is wrong for my honey hole. It should be good in the morning. Out in a different place none the less. Hopefully I'll see some action just before dusk.[IMG][IMG]

I saw five good bucks at 3am on the way home from work. Three of the appeared to be 140"+. No where near where hunting unfortunately.

Yeah that’s usually how it works. I’ve been seeing a couple really nice bucks in the yards of some house that I’ve been working on in the middle of an urban community. There is a park in the middle of this town surrounded by big houses. The deer come out and feed in these peoples yards. It’s actually getting to be a problem for some people. I know the one homeowner I did a couple million dollar renovation for had just planted about 200 grand worth of trees and shrubs only to have alot of them either eaten or torn up by some damn nice bucks. Unfortunately his wife does not look kindly on hunting them or I would be all over it. 11 acres with about 2 of it wooded. The rest is yard with the greenest grass I’ve ever seen. Maybe after they keep spending money on replacing things they will change their mind. I know some of the neighbors are getting fed up with it. I might go knocking on doors to offer my services. I will have to check around to make sure that it is legal to hunt there. Biggest problem would be keeping them on the property after the shot. If they run into the park it could get ugly.

Shot a 8 pt this morning. Hit a twig my arrow deflected low. Found bright red blood and followed it over 100 yards. Looked for 3 hours for more sign. Got help and didn't find another drop. Last blood appeared to be clotting.

Dang that sucks! Did you find white hair also?

Don't let it get you down. Maybe it was meant to be, maybe there is a better buck out there for you.

Dang twigs!! I used to hunt with an older friend of my dad years ago who used to call those Indian sticks. Not sure why? Never asked I was young and just kept calling them that ever since.

It's warm and breezy here in Arkansas. The mosquitoes were trying to carry me off. I stole a ring off my safety harness and cut a piece of pull rope. Worked like a charm.[IMG]

My youngest sister was able to shoot a nice little button buck yesterday evening on opening day. This makes it 4 years in a row that she's shot a deer on her first day out during the season! I though my hunting luck was great when I was younger, she's definitely surpassed me now! And now that I think of it, ever since she started this little streak, I haven't been able to shoot a deer......
