Nah, I'm just retired with all the time in the world to do something that I am 300% addicted to and I am able to do it in a very target rich environment.
Well fellas, it was a heck of a trip to Kentucky. I knew that this new moon trip would be good but I didn't know how good it would be. The first sit I totally lost count of the deer I saw. I saw a lot of deer before I got down but when I got down there were at least 25 deer in the picked corn field. The next morning I saw NOTHING at my primary spot. The next afternoon I shifted 150 yards NE to an outside corner close to a pond in the patch of woods I'd been hunting to take advantage of the movement I'd seen. The doe I killed was the 18th deer I saw. This morning the doe I killed was the 10th deer I saw in my primary spot. I saw four bucks. Two were before I could tell how big they were and the other two weren't shooters. I'm back home now and I have two deer sitting in the fridge awaiting processing. It would probably be a good idea to take a day or two off before I climb a tree again.
Great Job LC, your definitely on a roll. I was lucky enough to tag a doe on my first sit of the season. I normally don’t hunt this early or shoot does this early. That’s being said I decided I would try to get out on our opener here in OH. I set up in a new set on the distant edge of the property. As luck would have it a lone doe suddenly appeared about 40 yards away and she worked her way very suspiciously towards me. She came straight at me until about 15 when she walked behind a tree. I drew back and she seemed locked in on my position. Luckily I was able to hold steady until she turned sideways giving me a broadside shot. She stopped and I put the pin on her chest held it and had a smooth release. Despite the chip shot I hit her high in the spine and she dropped. I put two more arrows in her to finish the job. I will probably let things settle back down for a week or two then get a couple more cameras out in hopes that I can locate a shooter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
More hockey today for me then family dinner at my folks house. I got all my tags yesterday. I may try one evening later this week. Temps are supposed to drop later this week for a few days. I have a couple good bucks on camera at our farm. Not much at the other places I hunt yet. Good luck guys!
Hey congrats on the successes guys! Brett that's a helluva bull WOW!! My Montana hunt was awesome, got on a lot of good bulls but just never had a decent shot. Shot this raghorn on day 4 . My first bow killed elk, hopefully not the last. Also had a crack at a huge 200" muley on my last day and hit a small limb on a 42 yd shot. Not gonna lie I shed some tears. You guys will get to see it all in an upcoming show. Back to Midwest bucks for me, Good luck all.
Congrats on the elk. The weather is calling for a high of 63 and YES i will be in the stand Friday afternoon.
I've processed the two does I brought home and I'm rested up. I'll be going out on my little home place this afternoon and tomorrow morning. I'm really looking forward to the drop in temperature that we will see here on Thursday and it's supposed to be that way for the foreseeable future. We'll be dropping from highs in the 90's to highs in the 70's and lows in the 40's and 50's. I need to get my mid-weight gear washed and ready. I just have to find it.......
It'll be good to be keeping up with more teammates out whitetail hunting. Dan and I are doing what we can.
FINALLY my season in Louisiana opens tomorrow. I am going to try and get an evening sit in if possible.
