I did not shoot a buck or doe last season, but I did switch over to duck hunting earlier than I usually do.

I had a great year in 2012 and shot 3 bucks. I think in 2013 was the first year I signed up for the contest. I went buck less for the next 2 seasons, in 2013 and 2014. But have shot bucks every year since and multiple bucks on few of those year's. It's not a good feeling after a couple years. Mostly for me was I let my standards get to high.

Never went a year without a buck. Only way I wouldn't do well bowhunting is if I did not put time into it.

I killed my last buck in 2015. This is probably the longest I've gone without killing one. I will say though, I don't shoot the first legal buck that comes by me. It's got to be at least as good, or better than my previous buck. This guy was 137lbs dressed, which is good size for my area.

I have passed on some small bucks as well, we get 3 buck tags and I do hunt where quality bucks live and if I want meat I can shoot al1 the does I want. plus we have a 15" spread rule as well, I just have not had the right ones in bow range since 2012!

I started bow hunting way back in 1987. The first buck I harvested with a bow was in 2011!!.

I've been bow hunting 6 years and have not shot a buck with my bow. Passed a lot of small ones, and have had some close encounters with some wall hangers, but have never got a shot on them.

I believe I went 3 full seasons in between killing a buck. From 2009-2011 I killed a pair of bucks each fall and was riding high. Then in 2012 it all went sideways. From 2012-2014 I shot at 5 bucks between 120 and 145 inches and didn't kill a single one of them. It was brutal. Then in 2015 I killed 3 P&Y animals in one year. Go figure.

when it rains it pours!! to kill 3 P&Y bucks in one season is unreal, most never kill one in a lifetime. I have killed one in 30 years. may never kill another. to do it consistently, it takes work, it takes heart, it takes time and passion. I work somewhat, I have a little bit of heart, some time but would like more, and some passion... but none of those to an extreme..in other words...I have no excuse. lol! those are all variables that I control, hell I even have the land and the genetics where I hunt so that's not a problem either.. kid rock said it best...you get what you put in and people get what they deserve....I am ok with the way it works out, nothing that sets you apart from others is easy and that's the way it should be, or else you wouldn't be set apart..I admire you Justin for doing what you love for a living, it takes balls to risk it all and sacrifice other enjoyments in life to be passionate about them. Todd Pringnitz was a prime example of that. RIP

Welllll....I don't get to do this full time so don't admire me too much. My day job is running an IT consulting & web development company, which is what affords me the ability to be here in the Forum as much as I am.
