E1704C2D-A00C-4ECF-9F0F-8E8ADD67FEA7.jpeg First sit of the year. Hunting the mesquites this afternoon. Can’t really tell in the picture but this is a low area and travel route between bedding area and an alfalfa field behind me. Still a good hour and a half daylight here. 86 degrees and a bit breezy with a 15 mph wind.

You have got to come over and hunt Mark Twain Nat'l Forest with me. I can't guarantee a deer but camp would be a blast.

Congrats to all who took a deer today, and sorry to hear about the doe cantexian, always sucks not putting your hands on them.
It’s a coin flip if I’m heading out in the morning, on one hand the low is 70 and I just don’t want to deal with dead deer in the heat; on the other hand, I found some new sign in a spot I’ve never hunted or watched. I may sit and recon that spot for fun.
You will know if I’m out when there is enough light to pull the phone out.

Wait..... what's "redneck" about a beard? Beards have become more of a millenial thing.

About 40 minutes of daylight left and the wind has calmed down. A couple of young bucks and a doe/ fawn have passed by.

I am several miles away from anything remotely considered a busy highway. No houses around within a mile or so as well. An owl is hooting to my right. A cricket chirp here and there mixed in as well. . Other than that, Perfect silence and quietness. All is right with the world.....

Ever since I got a job that doesn't care, the beard has been constant and epic. Hope you get to rock one soon.
