Just came back from Colorado 2 nights ago. I have awesome hunting trip, but made no shot. Saw 15 mule deer some under 30 yards. Called 5 bull come in but not clear or close enough for the shot. Busted a 6by6 bull and 5 cow at 30 yards. Busted a 6by6 and a cow at 50 yards when he screamed at 75 yards. Could make a shot a spike at 35 yards. Saw 2 cow at 30 yard and 47 yards but couldn’t make a shot. Make new friends with 2 local hunter they invited me their home for shower and dinner. Fantastic hunt trip. Just got back home from up North, overall had a great time as usual. I passed two smaller bears on the bait and we also got productive and put boots to the ground in these big apple orchards and cornfields. Had one in an apple orchard 10 ft from me while i was on the ground trying to get set up, near crapped my pants LOL and we had a few in the corn as well second to last night, my buddy took a poke at one at 400 yards but fortunately it was a clean miss. Let deer season begin!
I didn’t know Iowa bow season started today. I just got a house closed yesterday. I need 4-5 months for me to remodel it and post to market for sale. My wife told me that any day I delay it will cost our money. But I will find some days to sneak out to hunt. This Friday I think I need get out check trail camera and 2 more tree stand setup. Checked a camera on my small property today. About 4 different bucks in velvet and then only one hard horned pic after that. They gone. Thats ok, its a rut cruising stand anyways. May be getting access to nice property soon so fingers crossed!
Might get out this Saturday for a sit. Have done zero scouting here but have a stand hung in a good spot.

Monday for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i will be in a tree everyday unless it pours rain, as i am retired and i have the time. some days i may take a break and only hunt mornings or evenings but for the most part it will be both, may have a couple date nights , so the wife doesn't kill me.
I am jealous my friend! Best of luck to you! And yea, not a bad idea to try to keep the Mrs happy, I try, I really do.....but it never really ends up going too well LOL!
