Call me a softy, or whatever, but I'm not a fan of orphanning a fawn, or shooting a fawn. I've done it before and have had the fawn hang around as I gut his/her mother. It was actually heart breaking, lol! To each their own though!
Didn't make it out last weekend... little too warm. I did get my post and trail camera out up on my food plot. Weekend looks like it should be pretty good for hunting. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Scouted for the first weekend of an upcoming park hunt today. My chosen spot is at a convergence of trails along a pinch between two sloughs. Hopes are high. We get to set up stands next Thursday and hunt Fri-Sun.
Put us on the board! Good luck, sounds promising. Could be tricky with winds and thermals with a hub and travel from all directions. Where I hunt I really can't play the wind, sit long enough and the deer eventually approach from the right direction
Hey guys just checking in. Haven't been real active since been busy with work. Was gonna try and go out last weekend and check stands and such but neighbor called and needed help messing with roof. A short job ended up taking up most of Saturday and then had a reception to go to. Daughter from guy work with got married and minda felt like had to go since they took time to send invite. Anyway been getting stuff kinda ready when can and got to shoot few times with bow. Even got to play around with a crossbow. Was kinda fun. Buddies uncle has one and might take it out few times this fall just for something different. But good luck if your season is open already. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
As to the crossbow, take it out omce or twice. Screw the "elitists" that have never tried to hunt with one saying how easy it is. Try it in a ladder stand without a bow hook, or a stand you normally set your bow in your lap. I actually switched back to the vertical bow this year because I found it cumbersome and annoying at times. All the elitists think you have a box blind with a tripod rest and laser pointer on a baited deer. Couldn't be further from the truth for someome who hunts in the same stands regardless of bow, gun, crossbow or even an atlatl
It's been a while since i chimed in. With all the changes happening around me, i haven't had a chance to prep. I was able to remove my stands & feeder this past weekend. Tx weather has been crazy this week(Emilda). The opener is only 10 days away. With the bad weather this may give me the opportunity to modify current setup. The goal is reduce noise, add shoulder straps, quick setup/takedown ability. For all whose season has started, best of success!
finally bought my permit last night. have most everything packed up. Plan is after putting the kids to bed make the 110 mile drive to the cabin, get a couple hours sleep then hunt friday morning and evening. I don't expect ill shoot anything, but even still i like to get like a dry run hunt in before getting serious
In the tree now! Decided to hit up an edge near some buck bedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea I was gonna try it regardless of what anyone thought. I'm sure there's challenges no matter what you use and personally I don't get the whole "vertical bow is only archery" thing anyway. Shooting a modern compound bow isn't exactly black magic. The end goal is a dead deer so what means is used is pretty trivial. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Gave my boss the finger and said I’m going hunting (it was actually more like I have to leave early for an appointment, but regardless). Settled in for prime time!
Got my tags and license today, so I guess it's getting pretty serious ha. Been raining almost all day tho, so not much else to do except sit around and watch college football. Got some new sights for the handgun today also so gotta figure out how I'm gonna put them on. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
