If this was on the Drury's show they would be saying that is an 8 year old deer. LOL So going on day 24 without rain in SE Indiana. There is supposed to be rain next Sunday Monday and Tuesday so I am hoping the special coating our oat seeds are supposed to have on them helped them make it through this tough time and the rain will get them going.
I lost my entire plot last year 2.5 acre of soybeans due to a drought. I got brassicas in after that but the slap to my wallet for soy hurt
My biggest field I have is close to 2.5 acres but we only plant half of it. a plot on each end of the field and the rest is kept as thick as possible to give the deer some cover. Next year I think we are going to plant the middle portion in a clover chicory blend and then keep the tow end caps as our fall/winter plots.
I have been kicking around planting the center of mine into switch grass but I never seem follow through with it.
I stalked a doe fawn in the beans last night when I was checking cams. I got to 10 yards before she even knew I was there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have taken a few deer cruises here and there to glass the bean fields and water ways around my area but that's about it.
My trip to do the blind was a sh!tshow. I messed with that thing for 45 mins and couldn't get it popped up. All my sweating and cussing fired up the locals and a big doe started blowing at me. I went home, packed the blind back in the box, and took it back to Cabela's...trading it in for 2 cheapies that I know will work. I pulled the card out there and have a pile of does. 2 with single fawns, 2 with twins, 1 with triplets, and 4 that come in together. All on just 24 acres.
Any of you guys have experience with trail cameras that have the black flash such as Browning’s dark ops? I’ve been granted some new permission and would like to get a camera out there. Thought about trying one out.
I bought this in the spring for turkeys and it’s super easy and a pretty good blind to hunt out of actually Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i have a couple browning strikeforce hd. one only lasted a couple years then a bunch of white fluid was coming out of it. they still are the best cams for the money.
I have 4 of those same ones and they have run flawlessly for me. A couple are 5 years old. The dark ops uses an undetectable flash apparently. I wanted to try one out but haven’t heard anyone using them. Don’t you guys feel the inferred flash slightly spooks the deer sometimes?
I’ve only seen it once and it was a late season buck that had been pressured and was probably my fault. Other than that, I don’t seem to believe it bothers deer I think it’s a gimmick Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's been said that they have very poor eyesight in that end of the spectrum. What I have noticed is some deer notice cameras and some don't. From a 49 to 200 dollar investment it's the same.
