I am shooting a 2013 martin nemesis 35 @60lbs 30"DL, using gold tip hunter xt 300 with 100gr points. the problem is I cant get the bare shaft to fly straight no matter how far in or out I move my rest, knock set looks good. My first rest was a stealth hunter capture rest, it ended up breaking during tuning, i now have a QAD ultrarest hunter. Its the first drop away anyone in my family has used. i see no signs that the vanes on fletched arrows are making contact, and it really looks like the rest is set up right..... so what do you guys think? what do I have wrong here?
Your going to have to say where your bare shaft is hitting in relation to your fletched shaft. Or additionally shoot the bear shaft through paper at about 5 yards and let us know what tear your getting
I think it's your rest. Check the timing on it. If it's not releasing (dropping) correctly you could be hitting it with the arrow or if it drops too soon the arrow had little guidance during release.
i wondered if it may be dropping too soon, how exactly do you check that? just trial and error? eta: I had this problem with a capture rest also, same arrows. Also, I have bareshaft tuned a bodoodle pro500 in a target setup (with black eagle champion?) @20yrds where the bare shaft shot the same at fletched arrows.... i may try to tune the rest with the black eagles. should cut it in half if they fly
You are shooting a 30 inch arrow so as you draw the rest should lift into a straight up position at the 28 inch Mark. The last 2 inches of the cycle should have it extend into "cocked". Checking this is much easier with a friend. Move your rope corresponding to the engagement. Too soon move the rope up giving it slack.
Ok assuming your not getting contact with the rest then a nock left tear can be corrected by one or all of these ways depending on your cam style and bow features: ~ Move the rest to the right ~Twist the L yoke while untwisting the Right yoke ~ move the cable guard towards the arrow decaying the load on the cables ~ Shim the cams to the left
I’m going to say, without knowing that bows cam system, your string cocker on your rest might not be fully engaging the rest to full back cock. When this happens with the QAD, the fork upon drop kinda hits a “tooth” on the rest mechanism which causes a faulty release. Curing it ? Simple if you have a drawboard. Draw the bow out. While @ full draw, with your index finger, try to check to see if your rest forks will back cock any further. Even a 1/16th inch can cause rest timing issues. You want those forks completely back cocked which releases any tooth resistance upon release. That’s just the intricacies of a QAD. Not sure your bow has a yoke or not ? Or cam lean ? Drawstops in synch or if hybrid cams timed. I assume you do ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
