This here is by far the best part of my season so far! 2 different hunts now my little guy video called me when he got up in the morning and I got to shoot some geese live for him! His face says it all. Last week he got mad when I wouldn't let him use my knife so I stole one of my nieces plastic knives from their kitchen set for him to "help"! Nothing like waiting until the last minute. With work and moving to a new place it’s been busy around here. The boat should have a new paint job in a few days though. Just got done sanding the bottom. Lots of old flaking paint. Here is a pic when I first got the boat. I’ll post pics of it all done. It’s a 1442 with a 13 hp predator motor and backwater longtail. Had a fun goose opener! 22 geese, 11 man limit (couple had to leave early). Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Well I thought I was taking the dog out tomorrow, but the refuge is closed from the storm. So I'm gonna see if I can pull in some reds.
Shot another 12 today, 6 man limit. And got my second band (drew lots for it). Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Hey all! Long time no chat! This time last year I was in Saskatchewan on an amazing bird hunt. This year I'm sitting at home laughing at the fact we can only get one goose each in our zone right now... That being said, it's been a good year getting the dog out and running. His first hunt was semi-successful. We retrieved two banded birds. Still working on him actually bringing them back though. Force fetching has not been helping in that aspect. We will be hitting a horse pasture Saturday - where it is the one bird limit. Hoping to just work with the dog on this hunt. Four of us are going - so it should be a decent training session.
The bottom and sides of the boat are done. I got 2 good coats on them. I just finished up the first coat on the inside. It looks like a completely different boat! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not a bad opening day. Got there plenty early still 4 boats beat us lol. Got to hunt with 2 buddies which is always a good time. Started out with some breakfast. Then just waited on the sun. Weather was great. 53° with a NE wind. Ended the morning with 5 teal and 3 woodies. The birds that we killed did it right and came in cupped. Overall good start to the season. Can’t wait to see how the rest of it goes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My boat is ready to go(minus the light bar) trying to decide where to take it for my first hunt with it. Water level is pretty high in a lot of spots so it’s making it a little more difficult. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Our season closes today until October 12th. I didn't go today but Friday morning I shot my 6 ducks (2 mallards 4 teal) and 3 geese. Perfect ducky weather this week when we're closed of course. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
Nice pics guys! Duck opened for us this weekend, though we shot more geese. Scrapped out a few, not a great opener for ducks, makes up for all the geese we've shot I suppose. Had fun camping on our island the night before though, and my buddy's son (7 yo) shot his first goose, used a tripod it was awesome. They had to cut out early. And my buddy got his first band.
