Hopefully everything goes well with your surgery. We are all here for fun and to make new friends. I hope you get a doe more so that you have the meat then the points. And stay active with us that’s all that really matters.

Thanks you guys. Its just hard to take. I'm use to covering 6-10 miles a day. Now its a mile or two and not extremely rough. That's the doctors orders anyway. My wife convinced the boys not to let me push it to hard. Of course after the surgery that will put me down for a few weeks. Its good I have family to look after me.

I will pray for a good surgery and full recovery. Rather have you back full strength and healthy for your family and future hunting.

Well, many encounters, but no elk in the cooler. We jumped 1 elk at 15yds on the way out one night (we spooked it hurting out) , 1 inside 75yds below is on the mtn (didn't respond to calls), 2 inside 60yds (winded), 1 at 32 yds (a number of factors).

Also had an Ermine at 3yds, a mule deer doe at 5 yds with her fawn about 10yds, a moose, geese flying south, and grouse.

We did call our hunt a day early to help a friend pack out his once in a lifetime Shiras Moose... With Moose backstrap for breakfast (yummy).

Sure. 7-12 miles per day, thousands of feet gained / lost, bivy hunted a couple days with about a 40 lb pack, 9500-11500 ft elevationsm.

But memories, fellowship and good times.

@wl704 Is that an Exo Mountain Gear pack you are using? If so, how do you like it. I have a Badlands Clutch but am thinking about upgrading to an Exo in the future.

It's a Horn Hunter. I want to get my hands on one of the Exos to give it a try.

Though the Kifaru's are pretty awesome also. Here's one of Matt with a moose quarter in his Kifaru pack. One of my fav pics... [IMG]

Survived the cruise and have made it back to St Louis, 2 hour drive and home.
Had everything packed before we left, so hoping to get headed to Wyoming tomorrow.
From the sound of it, the bulls are heating up and the weather is cooling down. Perfect!
Get a bull on the ground, then a bear and head back home to contribute to the cause here.

Well, I had planned on heading out Sunday morning to scout the piece of public that is 15 minutes from my house that I drew the limited access archery permit. Unfortunately, my wife has a terrible head cold and she is on her bye week, so I stayed home. The toddler woke up at 5:45 this morning. I decided to build up points with my wife for November.

I decided to double check my broadhead tuning after setting it up last month. The broadheads are shooting dead on out to 40 yards which is good enough for me. The woods I hunt are too thick for anything further than 30 yards.

My son-in-law has a couple depredation tags for his orchards, So tonight I am going to go see if a doe will stand still long enough for me.

I did a sneak on one got with in 51 yards and missed. I shot just under her. I was a little surprised I missed. I'm losing my touch. My 8 year old grandson was watching and said "Papa you must be getting old, I've never seen you miss before". After I got done laughing I said well stick around you may see me miss more then I should.
