I'll definitely see if I can go. I will probably be hitting Wisconsin for a week in November though so we''ll see if I can swing both trips

Red beard, are you aware of the deer contest? There is still time for you to sign up and be assigned to a team. you need one more post to qualify. It’s a ton of fun.

Here’s a link to the rules,

OK, it's less than a month out from this thing.
Seeing as how I just found out my November 2 is officially owned by my wife's cousin's wedding (there is legit reason for this- bride's mom has cancer and doesn't have much time left) I was led to believe that I have carte blanche the rest of the season. Which would include this trip.

Be nice to see who is definitely in. Most likely I will be truck/tent camping since I already dropped my camper up in Michigan. Which means I literally don't care how nice the facilities are.

I need to confer with the wife. Not sure how she will feel about me going out of town when I am leaving for WI less than a month after this G2G.

Is anyone camping Lake Hope instead of Alma? It is just a titch closer to me and I was thinking of hunting Zaleski if I was there anyways

I recommend just staying up at vinton furnace hunting camp if you're roughing it like me lol either way I'll be out there and depending on work I'll throw a tent up also. It has a bathroom and that's it but I prefer it myself. Have lots of good bucks located out that way too so if I do get to hunt I'll see if i can't point you in the right direction!

From what I read the other day that Hunter's Camp is free and first come first serve right?

No online registration like the other camp grounds?

Yeah its free. They have little cards to register. I assure you there will probably not be anyone else there lol maybe a person or two. Usually almost have the place to ourselves. Most ive seen is like 5 groups and that's in November. Kinda one of my hidden gems. Even when you look up public land in ohio on google it doesnt even show up lol it used to be mead property and the state bought it. When I tell people around here that I hunt there most of them have never even heard of it. In October I almost have the entire forest to myself lol closer to November a few groups roll in. Even last year the guys I did talk to were camping there but driving to zaleski to hunt. Personally on a three day hunt id locate a clearcut and try to find some oaks on the edge of it. Have noticed the acorn crop isn't great this year. Usually my better years here when I do find a tree producing good. My phone number is 7406032440 for anyone that would wanna text or call me if anyone needs any help with anything. Hoping I can actually participate and camp though.

Man I really wanted to be there but I have to work at the hospital that weekend. I hope there's a great turnout.

The vision still stuck in my head of Fergus racing himself. Legendary!

Dang. Hope you had a good weekend man. Woulda liked to have met up. I worked all weekend and Sunday we took the kids to a pumpkin patch. If you guys happen to come back down anytime I can point you in the right direction if you didn't have much luck.
