Hey all, just finally officially joining the forum.

Been a self taught hunter since 21 years old, (only about to turn 30) not much hunting in recent years though due to grad school, work, kids, etc etc, you've all been through those periods I am sure.

I started archery actually with traditional gear but now I live where I can't just go outside and practice regularly so wasn't feeling confident anymore. This will be my first season going out with the compound (bought last season but never went hunting).

Just here to continue to learn and grow as an outdoorsman and hoping to find the camaraderie that I have missed since my Trad Gang days. Actually met up and hunted with a number of those guys few years back.

If anyone else is from Summit County or round about say hey!

    Cheers

Welcome aboard. You have to practice with a compound bow just as much as a traditional bow. The only bow you might be able to practice less with would be a crossbow. I never hunted with a crossbow so I'm just guessing. But I have shot traditional and compound bows and both require a lot of practice. When you do practice, practice like your hunting the very first shot should be the most important shot because when your hunting you only get that first shot. Good luck and have fun as deer in Ohio have multiplied like rabbits and I see more and more deer every year in Ohio.

Hey! Southwest Ohio here! Good luck and always keep working on what you want to accomplish. Ohio is my favorite state to hunt in that's for sure!

Maybe we could meet and shoot one day. Have you ever been to summit county metro parks archery range on Easton road?

That's actually the only one I haven't been to. I'm smack between tinker's creek archery range and Hampton hills so I usually go to Hampton. Nice range there at silver creek?

Real nice. They have an elevated shooting platform. Probably about 15 ft at least. Also targets out to 60yds.
