    Less than 15 minutes ago wind started swirling a bit...just got winded by a fawn just out of spots and a velvet spike...right on the trail I posted earlier. WTF

    Here is the photo I promised. I misplaced my phone, and it doesn't automatically upload to my photo site. Found this afternoon when my buddy helped me tow my truck home this afternoon. It slid behind the seat. Had to tow the truck because on my way home from scouting for elk last night I hit an angus heifer that was walking down the state highway. The only upside is that this area probably isn't open range so I don't have to pay for the cow. Between purchase and repairs I might have put 1800 into the truck since I bought it in 2009. I'll miss inspecting the carpet when I get under the next one to change oil.

    I'll be back in a tree tomorrow morning but it'll be on my property in Missouri.

    Based on what I've seen on my cameras, if I kill one it'll be a doe since I don't have a buck on camera that I would shoot and you guys know my standards aren't that high.

    I think that my best bet, however, is tomorrow evening.

    It's a long walk from my house to my morning stand. I'll have to stop, unlock the driveway gate, cross the road, walk through another unlocked gate and walk another 150 yards. It'll probably take me a whole 4 minutes. I'm not sure I'm up to the workout.

    I'll be 56 in a week and a half and I still get as excited as a 10 year old the week leading up to Christmas.

    It drives my wife crazy. I sure hope I never lose that.

    I ended up seeing that 4 pt, might have been the buck I saw earlier. Also saw 2 fawns, and a doe came out the marsh near dark. Nothing I wanted to shoot. On to the next spot.
