Any recommendations on shoulder waist straps for a lock on run and gun setup? Was looking at the XOP harness but want to see what all options are out there.
I had cheap shoulder straps. They were bad. I then went to molle straps and waist pad and it was better... Then I switched to the xop tts and it is great. I'd just go that route. Save you money in the long run.
I have the XOP system for my Lonewolf assault hang on. I also had the original TTS for my summit Viper for years. Worth every penny!! For attaching it to my Lonewolf, I do not use the provided buckles, because the stand shifted around on my back, almost as if it was too loose. So I attached it was zip ties and it fix the problem. You won't regret it! Once I hang my stand, I use two bungees on the underside of the stand to keep the shoulder straps and waist strap from flapping in the wind.
I've never used anything but the standard/cheapo straps that come with the Lone Wolf stands in the box. Although I'm a bit different in that I wear my fanny pack w/shoulder straps under my stand. So the cheap straps ride on top of the padded straps from my pack and don't dig into my shoulders. Seems to work out really well for me. I have considered the XOP TTS and may get one just to try it out. My hesitance is that I'd have to adjust the way I pack my stuff, and I kind of like the system I have now. I'm very resistant to change.
Besides the comments hear the bare bones is that the tts makes caring a system feel like nothing compared to basic shoulder straps. Mine has not come in yet so I cannot say but I will let you know what a stand and sticks feel like and the difference. But from what I have heard is it's a night a day difference which means a lot on long treks to a stand.
I have a Blacks Creek pack that's 8 or 9 years old and has a busted zipper, but it's the best thing I've found to date for run-and-gun hunting with camera gear. I've tried other brands and keep coming back to this one. Unfortunately, they don't make them any more or I'd buy a spare just in case. When I'm not packing a stand in and out I typically use a Badlands camera daypack.
For reference with my sticks, stand, and pack with camera gear I'm right around 38#. With the TTS it feels about like carrying a summit climber for those of you that have exoerienced that.
