20190909_183334.jpg 1013.JPG Well I got one buck on camera before I headed back north. I had the bachelor group in my yard a couple Saturdays ago. Walked out back to launch some arrows, my head was down and I heard the sound of deer running away. Picked up my head immediately and saw the 3 jumping back towards the creek. So I went and got another camera cause my one that was up they walked behind it. Only one came back and he's the smallest of the 3 for my last day down south. So maybe this weekend when I pull the cards I can see the others finally without running away. Midday bucks which is rare in my yard

I just picked up 10 acres of of DRZ property that allows me to start hunting September 15th. Gotta shoot a doe first on DRZ, but can take up to 10 per zone. Nice thing is that is 20 minutes from my house. Evening hunts over the pond that is there could be awesome!

I have a couple DRZ areas as well...new baby could cramp my style of getting out early though. Pops however last year didn't harvest 2 does, but dropping an early September doe allowed him to still be gun hunting on New Year's day as in reduction zones once gun season comes in legal weapons on private ground are legal through the end of reduction season. I would double check to be sure this is still the case this year, but has always been from what others said (last year was our first year being in one).

Thunderstorms and rain the next 2 days. Clears up just in time for this weekends opener. Wish the front was just a bit later... high of 59 on Friday and 72 on Saturday.

I'm still another 30 days out before I even consider hunting down in southern. Halloween to Thanksgiving is when I get serious. I'll do a cold front or 2 in October under some oak flats. I'm a firm believer in wind, thermals and scent control to the best you can do it. Those big bucks ain't stupid but on a side note..... Predicting a colder winter this year, already had acorns dropping down by me which is earliest I've ever seen them fall. It's gonna be a good bowseason this year, I can feel it!

Going to scout the new place Sunday after noon and put in a small ground blind if I find a good spot. I got to believe that will be the best way to hunt this place. I'll be able to slip into the blind quietly for some short evening hunts. Lady that owns the place said that the deer mow her flowers and garden down and she wants them all gone! I'll do my best to help thin them out

I was telling a guy at work the same thing about the weather on friday. Low 70's is not to bad but would of been nice to be able to catch a cold front for the opener

Well may have picked up another urban (not urban zone however) type property where I've been seeing a freaking awesome buck at periodically. Bow only, but if I can garner access through a neighbor owner said go for it. "Land locked" parcel he bought at a tax sale...he said he'd even consider selling to me if I end up liking it. May not be hunting much this year with newborn, but still grinding for future!

Just about 3 inches of rain in the last few days here... my property is not going to be looking good. Should be an adventure getting out there.

Good luck gents!! So that 8 I posted earlier in the week is a 7. I figured out who he is to. He had a major injury going toe to toe with the 9 I put down last season. I named him Floppy but the one photo is 10yds where I stand I have video too. He just stood there as I was walking out of the woods. He was in rough shape. But cool none the less he recovered. 20190914_085726.jpg 20181105_120223.jpg
