I got a blind set up at a farm I hunt. I sat and watched the field, and got footage of close to 20 deer all though the evening. No mature bucks, but it's mainly a rut location. I did make a poor shot on a stud here last September though.

I'm heading out early Friday morning to a WMA to kick our season off. I've got about 2 dozen pins dropped to scout on the 40 thousand acres. Hopefully I will find some decent sign and not melt in the process.

I’m heading out for vacation/wedding in Florida in the morning. I’ll be hunting margaritas and eyeing bikinis through my sunglasses all week.
Had a good scout this morning, found some decent sign and got a good buck on camera.
See you all in a week, by then I’ll be 7 days from our opener.

Thx, I'm leaning towards 5 but planning a recon for next year to get a better sense of the public options. Good luck in KY. We have a few weeks before our area opens here.

Depending on what things look like this fall I may consider shooting for Zone 5 or 6 in the future. OR I may go crazy and pick a zone with little to no trees that only takes 1-2 points to draw and try my hand at that. I haven't decided yet. One thing at a time I guess.

As much as I'm looking forward to Kentucky, I'm dreading it at the same time. It's supposed to be 94 and sunny when we get there on Thursday afternoon. I had planned on hanging a stand for Friday morning and then going and hanging another one for that evening. The first stand I'll likely wear shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt and say to hell with scent control. The second one I may just camp out on a raft in a pond and hope something shows up for a drink around dark.

Was doing some last minute prep last week and found my viper tricks are not grouping very well with the vanes I have on (vanetec superspine) with not much time let until the season opens on Saturday I opted to use the G5 deadmeats for the first weekend, I’ll have a two week break after that and get the viper tricks shooting well. I tried fletching 2 arrows with AAE max hunters and they were steering my viper tricks great but the crazy high profile on those was making a lot of noise, going to fletch some up with the max stealths and see how they do! Good luck in KY Justin!

Sounds like a tuning issue not a vane issue.

This bow is tuned to a T, putting bullet holes through paper both fletched and bareshaft, bareshaft is grouping right with the fletched arrows at 20 yards! Talking with all the bow techs at work they agreed just don’t have enough steering to offset the larger fixed blade viper trick, the super spines are really low profile vanes so they don’t offer much steering

i put some Glory Nock lighted nocks on my arrows last night. First time trying them. The work great and fly perfect. I only shot out to 30 yards, but that's usually the max I will ever shoot out here anyway. They are the easiest lighted nocks I have ever used with the on off button. I like them. I can't wait to put one through a rib cage!
I'm shooting NAP Spitfire Maxx broadheads again, but did pick up a pack of the SIK SK2 broadheads to try out as well. I know the owner of the company. He used to work at my local pro shop. He is now the GM for Bear Archery as well.
    They look nasty!
My daughter is getting pumped for the youth hunt. 2.5 weeks left!

Sounds odd to me. I know guys that shoot big fixed blades on a bare shaft (testing purposes) without issue.

    Good Luck in Kentucky Justin.

I did the lighted nocks for the first time last year, ruttnutt shot a short video of me shooting my buck with his I phone. It was pretty cool, I'll be picking up another pack of them this year. We actually have real video equipment this season to play with.
