I do not think that sitting 20 yards off a corn pile is fair chase.

 

I personally do not bait or use food plots and will not ever but I am not going to say that it is not fair chase to bait

Not sure, but damn that's gotta be expensive.

 

Or 5 acres of it. Or 50. Or 100. Rich mans sport. While condemning a guy putting out a 5 lb bag of corn. Now I dont bait, never have and never will, but this has a lot of different perspectives.

Is a 50 square foot food plot that is fenced in until the late season any different than dumping a 3 lb bag of corn?

Is leaving a swath of uncut corn baiting? While I may agree with not sitting over a corn pile being hunting, to each his own so long as they're eating what they shoot.

Food plots, man that's a hobby. I enjoy planting food plots and have a blast doing it.

The Booner running around my place has only been seen once or twice at my feeder this year and if I'm going to get him it's not going to be in a food plot or over a feeder, it may be on the edge inside the woods but not smack dab in the middle of the plot.

 

Don't care what another hunter does, if it is legal have at it. Unless they are using a crossbow calling themselves an archer.

 

Probably more than the use of cams. In that you can literally track the time and days ,be it every, every other or every 3 days. With out that they could hit a pile or plot at any time or from any direction.
We can't bait so to that I'm speculating . I plot. I currently have 13 separate plots on 49 out of 73 acres. I'm the only one hunting. For me plotting is fair chase. I have no idea what plot or plot area deer will fancy any given day. I plot that way for that reason. Oh I'll complain , get frustrated, even bored during the season, but when I "zig" and they don't "zag" I have fun exciting hunts.

 

You seem extra angry lately. Need to relax and enjoy life a little bit more, my man. Don't let the rich, food-plotting, rangefinding-sight using hunters get ya down.

 

Extra angry about hunting? Nope. Real easy to me. Enter woods. Hunt. Mind my own business. I dont get involved in anyone elses hunting.

But the article did pose a question and I responded. People arent making food plots to benefit nature. They are doing it to kill deer.

I have my plot fenced off when I pull that fence I get more deer on the plot than I ever do at the feeder, guess I am cheating.

 

Ever try to chase a deer, dang things are fast; I have yet to win any races against deer.

 

Nothin fair about that! haha

 

It’s a mixed bag as the article points out. Some of you live in areas that have places with abundance of food.

We live in a literal desert. Most folks who want to successfully kill a deer either have to stalk it through the sand dunes over all sorts of unpleasant plant life such as mesquite bush, cactus, catsclaw, etc...

Or... you can set up a blind at a water hole and wait for them to come to one of the limited locations for water.

Water is a definite spot to find deer here. In other areas... not so much. If there is more water and food it can become more challenging to get them to come onto your property.

 

Theres been years where im a master baiter and there’s been years where i don’t bait at all.

I don’t kill deer either way so none of it’s fair.

Dude this again? seriously pull the plank from your eye before you tell me to pull the speck from mine. With that said laws are laws, hunt just get out and hunt the system is what it is. Folks are gonna begrudge another hunter over a corn pile, or maybe hunting in an apple orchid, or perhaps the edge of a corn field. If it lies on the ground in one way or another by natural means than who is anyone to pass judgment because someone simply moves said food source to a different location and hunts it. Lets be fair the deer are not just wandering aimlessly in the woods they are going somewhere to satisfy a basic animal function which is eating, or breeding, or bedding down so are you baiting if you ambush them along the way? Okay ill do one better THE RUT! those of you who chastise or take your soap box stance on corn piles, do you use doe urine? I mean cmon why do we bow hunters really give a crap about how we do it as long as its legal. With that said I just dumped 300 lbs of corn and antler master in my feeder today, ill be perched above it tomorrow waiting to smoke a doe with my bait and bow.

 

I could care less if you are rich, plant food plots, or use rangefinders. You put this link on here to generate views. Yehawww

500lbs a week. Great for seeing does, mature bucks just circle downwind. You have to place it on a hard edge where they can’t do that.
