    1. What is one thing you hope to do better/different in thedeer woods this season?

    a) Sit for longer periods of time especially mid day during the rut.

    2. What is one thing that you thinkyou do well at each season in thedeer woods?

    a) choosing the correct stand location.

    3. What would you put your odds/%chance at you harvesting a buck thisseason?

    a) 60% in NJ, 20%in VT.

    4. What is your favorite thing aboutdeer season?

    a) Hunting with my older kids and all that entails. We sometimes can see each other arrow deer, help drag out and process deer together.

    5. What state are you from & how doyou think state agencies are doing with whitetail laws and populationmanagement in your state?

    a) VT. I dont think VT was doing very well, but they made a bunch of changes for next year like going to one buck per year down from two, four doe per year up from three, extended archery from one month to three months, changed antlerless muzzleloader from December to October.

There is still more to do like reducing the size of the management zones and adjusting bag limits accordingly, educating hunters about letting small bucks walk, Incentives for land owners to plant standing crops for deer bear turkeys, managing timber in public land and leasing public land fields to local farmers for crop production and standing crops for wildlife.

My clover, chicory, alfalfa and now oats plot; then my radish, turnip, peas and beans plot. Also the apples are doing very well this year, I have 40 or so apple trees.

I like Drop Tine Dozen for a team name.

I will take the team Captain spot if the team is in agreement.

Top 2 same deer and bottom 2the same. Not sure if either are what I'm going to chase though. The typical is on a very patternable east wind bedding spot probably have him 20times in daylight this year. The non typical is a local deer that was very visible last year[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    1) nothing

    2) getting in quietly

    3) 60% chance

    4) the rut

    5) Penna.
I think Pa does a pretty good job overall.

Man we’ve got some great looking bucks so far this year for the team! I unfortunately don’t have any cameras up so far this year. But between yesterday and today I did manage to to get 5 stands hung on two new properties that I’m pretty excited to hunt, one stand in particular gave me chills after I got it hung! Vermont for captain sounds good to me and team name I’m good with anything. It’s been amazing here in sw Michigan the last 2 days. Right now it is a gorgeous 64 degrees and has really got me in the mood to hunt!

All I have in VT so far. They are twin 3yo 6pt. Both were 2yr old 4pt/5pt last year. They are basically main frame 8's with no brow tines. I will probably not shoot either one and let them hopefully grow. Unless something bigger shows up I will probably concentrate in NJ. I'll be in NJ to check cameras next weekend. Hopefully they have not been stolen from my public land spots.

Also this, not for the contest, but cool. She's big but not sure I'd shoot a pregnant sow which is probably carrying 2-3 cubs.

    1. What is one thing you hope to do better/different in thedeer woods this season?

    a) Hold off for deer I want vs impulse. Been improving but still always can be better

    2. What is one thing that you thinkyou do well at each season in thedeer woods?

    a) pretty decent scent control. Not overdoing being in the woods near season.

    3. What would you put your odds/%chance at you harvesting a buck thisseason?

    a) I’m not gonna hold out and eat my tag unless have to. If chances look slim I’ll take whatever. tough to put a number but I’d say 75%+ for a buck, now the size I’ve got no promises

    4. What is your favorite thing aboutdeer season?

    a) Getting out in nature, it’s become family fun for all aspects of it, plots, cams, talking about it and the excitement of it, eating it, and can’t beat the kids excitement of it. Getting the kids into it and right track has been the best feeling, they love it and that has made it all more rewarding to me. Every cheesy line I’ve heard like that is right

    5. What state are you from & how doyou think state agencies are doing with whitetail laws and populationmanagement in your state?

    a) MN. I think some spots are managed better than others. Here there’s no point restrictions or anything. Could always be better could be worse, same as with me out there.

    1. What is one thing you hope to do better/different in the deer woods this season?
Finding and patterning deer without cameras and good, boots on the ground scouting.

    2. What is one thing that you think you do well at each season in the deer woods?
Staying mobile, not over hunting one spot, and going in deep and avoiding other hunters/pressured areas

    3. What would you put your odds/% chance at you harvesting a buck this season?
Probably 50-60%. I've got a solid 4 or 5 good bucks located and have a good idea of where they're spending most of their time.

    4. What is your favorite thing about deer season?
Spending a ton of time in the woods and getting away from a busy life and unwinding.

    5. What state are you from & how do you think state agencies are doing with whitetail laws and population management in your state?

NJ. I'd think that my state does a pretty solid job of managing deer. Ample seasons, great population numbers, good access to public land thats well maintained and good habitat management.

Dirty dozen is always a classic. I’m good with any of them though. Hopefully it’ll last a few seasons

I like Drop Tine Dozen... unique and not used every year as Dirty Dozen may be.

Finalized shooting lanes at once of my local stands yesterday and put a camera up. It looks to be a great spot. Can't wait to check the card on a few weeks.

We have multiple cameras out at the WI property that have been dialing for a month or so. I really can't wait to see which deer made it through to this year up there. Big deer genetics up there for sure.

Drop tine Dozen works for me. If there’s a tie breaker that goes straight up the ladder to the El Capitan! Do we have anyone that has their season is starting up soon? I’m ready to see some dead deer, I need a fix!
