Years ago I setup my deer target close to a friend's stand. It was gun season and he shot all the ammo he had. I came out to his stand and he was sneaking out of it to go get more ammo. You could do that but it's not as easy to carry around. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I normally hunt a small piece of private with my buddy. About 3 years ago I bought a “garage sale” 3d deer target. Center was shot out, we taped a piece of cardboard over it and used some cheap Walmart tan paint and painted the whole thing. It’s missing an ear and is pretty rough, but we still put it out and shoot does over it every year. We haven’t taken a quality buck using it, but it’s fun to watch yearlings and does interact with it. We spray it down with scent killer and stapled a white hankerchief to its tail. We put tinks 69 on the tail area. It lives behind a large hay bale on the property when we aren’t using it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
My BIL shot a decent buck a couple of years ago that he grunted in after spotting it. He had his Rinehart deer target set up about 25 yards out from his treestand with the antlers on it to represent a buck. When the buck saw the decoy it started posturing and the decoy held it's attention until the shot.
