I have always wanted to take a deer with a bow from the ground without a blind. Last year I was successful in doing this. It really makes you think about camo and how you will blend in. Ultimately I found deer are not used to seeing hunters in ghillie or leafy suits that completely break up the human outline. They are actually more curious at first. Has anyone had any good bowhunting ghillie suits or leafy suits they recommend?

My experience was to sill use the existing vegetation to blend in and add to my camo, but still, like the idea of a good base layer with a ghillie or leafy suit. What do you think?

I recommend ASAT 3d pro; I wear it early season to late season, tree stand or on the ground Wear whatever you want underneath. It really breaks up the human form. I had to do a little trimming so the string wouldn’t catch on my arm, but would probably have to do that with any other 3d suit as well.

I killed a big doe from the ground a few years ago.... really windy day....the one time the wind is a bow hunters friend.

Yes, wind definitely helps, in so many ways.

I had one similar to this and it was awesome. I moved away from it when i moved to NC, too hot. I struggled stalking with it with a bow, but i think it was more related to sweating so much. Leaning toward the lighter 3d leafy suits for this season.

I run a ghillie suit from the ground after two mostly successful ground hunts last year in two consecutive days. One kill and one swing and a miss neither deer knew I was there. I use the same ghillie as listed above. Or something real dang close to it

Yes, awesome to hear your success...they work! I like the idea of a ghillie because there is much less weight and I can be so mobile for public hunting lands. It's been a whole new experience and challenge to bowhunting.
