I always find this interesting. Ill post 2 pictures or 2 different arrows I shot deer with, based on what you see tell me about the shot, placement, how far deer went etc. Ill follow up later with pictures of the deer add your own pictures too, i think being able to read arrows and little clues is a skill at least I need to work on.
First picture 25-30 yards Second arrow, 100 yards. But I had one I did this too and it only ran about 40 yards Lol. Guessing you buried it into the shoulder?
First one i think is a low hit maybe halfway back. The small bubbles are deceiving as there is a lot of white hair on the ground. My guess the deer went 100 yards+. Second arrow offside shoulder quartering away shot is my guess. Deer goes 30 yards and down. Could be completely wrong on these lol but ill take a crack.
1st arrow looks like it exited low and solid dark red blood. Liver and maybe ran off a couple hundred yards. 2nd arrow. Can't really tell if the arrow only went in halfway or it zipped through some fatty part of the guts and cleaned the back end of the arrow off. Anyways it also exited low. So I am going with a quartering to shot that exited out low through guts. Went 400 yards.
first deer, a doe was taken at close range, maybe 5-7 yards, slight 1/4 towards, shot placement was too low for the angle and a little back. arrow exited deer in upper abdomen area, deer ran, 75 yards and bedded. Let lay for about 2 hours, very minimal blood trail. second deer was shot at about 20 yards, entered maybe a touch high and smoked the opposite side shoulder breaking arrow off. This deer ran about 250-300 yards total but circled back around and dropped in harvested field about 100 yards from stand in sight
First one was a double lung, and if that arrow passed through at that angle then it was a low exit? If I’m right, it should have made quite a mess. Second one was also a double lung? The blood is kinda hard to see on my phone. But the broadhead broke, probably in the opposite shoulder. I’m gonna guess that deer number one dropped within 80 yards. Number 2 within 120. And a tougher tracking job. Edit: just read the rest of the thread, how interesting! Wow. That first pic was deceiving. I thought for sure it was a classic double lung shot.
