Lol yeah that wouldn't be good! You got a target that's similar to do a couple practice shots?

No foam targets. My target is basically an oversized bag target that I made last year. Made good use of an old trampoline cover and a van full of used shrink wrap from Home Depot.

Hey guys, checking in! Sorry it took me a little while! I’m 21, I’m from Southern Illinois, I hunt IL, IN, and KY typically. This year I will be spending the first week of Oct. in Texas. I’ve got a few deer that I’m hunting this season, so it should be a good year!

1546828496359.jpeg this was my 2018 entry, 5.5 year old that used to be a solid 140+, but lost everything as a 5.5 year old.

    IMG_1591.JPG
This was my 2017 entry, solid 8 that we had been hunting for a while.

IMG_1797.JPG this is my best buck ever grossed a little over 170

Damn nice brother!! I wish I would encounter deer like that!!! Seems like I must be hunting in a nursery full of baby bucks. I fell lucky if I see a 100” deer. Super jealous

Thanks guys! I’ve definitely been fortunate.

I was cold and had taken like 1000 pictures at that point lol

I live in Benton County, Arkansas which is a CWD zone. I can't put out any feed or attractant until September 1st. Currently only running one camera and have only had one small buck on camera. I'm planning to get more cameras out Sunday. Hopefully I'll have a couple shooters show up.

You pretty much described my season so far also. Only one camera out and only 2 tiny bucks all summer. I did have a huge 10 pt walk in my yard about a month ago, but he has been a no show the rest of the summer.

So here are few of my better bucks over the last few years. I've been bow hunting for 26 seasons now and I was always a meat hunter. Shot the first deer to walk by me every time, didn't pass anything. Then in 2010 I got permission to hunt a really nice farm. So I decided to look for a good buck. That year I shot a mature buck and got hooked! I have been chasing big bucks every since. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I don’t have any cameras out at all. I never have. I really like the surprise of not knowing what I might see. I guess maybe if I did put a camera or 2 out I would realize that there are bigger bucks around and wouldn’t have to settle for the younger ones. I guess I would still describe myself as a meat hunter. I still get excited over any deer I take. That’s why I do it.

Last year was the first year in well over 20 years I didn’t shoot anything. I targeted one buck, last year, (trail cam pics), but to no avail. I have pics of him for three seasons. Always nocturnal. Never laid eyes on him. I am guessing a neighbor got him (but I never heard anything which would be unusual) or he was poached (likely cause as if said he was always nocturnal in all my pics), he died of natural causes, or I am still holding a sliver of hope he is still around. But haven’t got a pic since last year’s rut, so pretty slim.

The mounted pic is best deer I have ever taken and that was seven or eight years ago.

I also attached pic of my last buck from two years ago.

I have quite a few cameras out but nothing to get too excited about so far. 0F79C4D9-F4AC-4420-AAAD-C97D282287B3.jpeg DCF3779F-2340-44FA-954A-B2A6666ECC18.jpeg DBE7BFE2-CF12-4D54-9E5D-599D572DAC4E.jpeg 39CBE573-2470-4DA0-9C01-6B7F7D34593D.jpeg

That's what I have been doing over the last couple years. I keep one camera out over a mineral site and that's it. I agree that's it's fun to be surprised what shows up!

What a monster! That thing would haunt my dreams. I bet you had a few sleepless night while hunting him. It's funny how deer can get in your head. Hopefully he shows back up for you.

Looking at the size of the deer you guys are posting pictures of it sure feels like with a little luck there could be some big points being put on the scorecard !!hopefully the stars align and we all tag some nice bucks. Just seeing the pictures of everyone else’s deer is getting me fired up.
Getting ready to go out and test shoot a few Broadheads to decide what I am going to shoot this season.i got a few to test from buddies who were gracious enough to let me try one before I spend the money and buy them without knowing how they fly with my rig. I already shot the muzzy trocar HB and that flew true just like my field points with no tweaking. If I go that route I would probably get the HB TI. It just looks nasty !!!!!!

I will be broadhead tuning tomorrow also. Starting to get excited! One week from today and I will be in the stand. Also if your looking for a new broadhead, check out the Slick trick vipers. Great head for the price.

This year is going to be a little different for me. I won't get to really start hunting hard until late October. I'm coaching my daughters high school softball team, so that pretty much is going to take up all my time outside of work. I will have my normal week off in November before rifle season starts and I have another 8 days to take at some point so I will still get a lot of hunting in, just not going to get my normal early season sits in.
