The B&C all time records are 375" for elk, generally, 10-20 bulls a year across the west are killed over 400" I had Ryan Carter from DC Outfitters (one of the best 400" elk guides in Utah) score it and he put it somewhere between high 380s and high 390s
Got a new 10 showing up on one of my cams. I think him and his buddy will both get passes as I believe they are 3 years old.
Vertix. I like a longer ata bow. I’m still shooting the Halon 32. If you’d a thrown traverse on the list, i would’ve picked that. I don’t know if I could get my peep up high enough on the triax
Great looking bull. Good luck on getting him. Does North Dakota have a lot of elk Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
So my name is Greg. This is my third year being a part of the contest. I didn’t kill a buck last year but I did have my #1, that I’ve been after for going on the third year now, at 42 yards, but didn’t have a shot. He bedded down in the brush and then two does took off out of the bedding area and ruined my plans. I still chalked it up as a win bc I was in the game. Things just didn’t go as planned. This year I’m hunting quite a few more spots and have some other bucks to chase. Like the ones in my post above. The lopsided one is up at my parents house. I’m hunting some public for the first time this year as well. Here’s the buck I’ve been after and watched for a few years. November 11th, I know exactly where I’ll be, and I took care of the brushy stuff
Gri22ly checking in...work is running me ragged, but I'll see what I can do. Surely I'll be able to hunt a few times this year. Just had to relocated from Ky. to Birmingham in the last month.
October 1st. Still not sure what my early season strategy will entail. The 40 acres behind my house is primarily doe bedding and business doesn’t pick up until rut. May go up to my parents the first week for a couple of sits and then dive in on public for a few weeks.
State draw hunt results are in. I put in for four of them and got late season McCormick’s Creek State Park. (Dec. 2nd and 3rd). Never been on a state park draw hunt, but I’m pretty excited about the late season one. Edit: it’s gun only, oh well
Sept 6th is opening day, still deciding which bow will be my primary and which my backup. I shoot both equally well, my preference so far is the Triax. Dave
Sept. 6 for me also, I know I shouldn't complain since we get to start a lot sooner than most, but these last two weeks of waiting are killing me. Already organized my hunting pack twice.
I hear ya Opossum. My normal routine is a week before season is to replace my string loops to make sure it is not worn out from all the shooting I did this summer. Just did that and bows are both shooting perfect. Guess I will go watch the hunting channel on T.V and daydream about big bucks and great archery shots. Come on 6 September !!!! Dave
So we are only missing one member and know 4 starting dates so far. Hopefully some of you early starters will draw some early season blood!!!!!
