Good evening from the Northeast. I was looking to do a midwest hunt this fall, I would rather it be a DIY on public or a lease but I am not looking to spend thousands of dollars. I was curious if anyone knows of smaller lease parcels or where to start looking or where some may be posted. I have read about farmers getting depredation tags but haven't heard much else about it, do farmers look for bow hunters or take it upon themselves to knock down the herd? Thank you in advance!

Little late in the game to be getting on a lease. Good luck finding something for under a couple thousand. Public land prob your best option. Plenty of it in the Midwest.

Yeah I figured it would be hard to find a cheap lease when I looked at what some people were paying. I was looking at public land in Indiana or might just bite the bullet and go with an outfitter until I hear of something or come across something.

How much time do you plan on spending? A week? A week hunting, a couple days scouting?

Most likely a week, 3-4 days scouting, 3-4 days hunting. All depends on the area I choose to hunt and what information I gather prior to. But getting to the area and scouting is a must.
