I tell ya what, 3 IL, MO, MN and W. KY. Not bad for the first 6 check ins. Don't expect any horn porn from me until I arrow something
What's everybody have planned for this year? I live in south suburbs of the Cities and hunt public land. I've drawn one park hunt that'll allow me access to a park for 6 days of hunting, and also drew a DNR hunt that gives me access for the entire archery season. Beyond that I've got some good spots on the other public tracks around me. The season can't come fast enough for me.
live in Nebraska, have a friend with a farm Im told theyll let me hunt but when it gets brought up nothing materializes. Father in law owns some land with cabin in NW Missouri which is where I do most of my hunting and is only 100 miles out so pretty easy trip. Im typically not an opening (sept 15) week guy, weather isnt ideal etc, then have to travel for work last week in sept. Plan to have entire first week of Nov off to hunt. and when forecast looks good will sneak a day in here and there. this year I haven't seen anything on cam bigger than 125/130, but Ive seen a good amount of different deer in that range. Im confident I'll be able to add something in that range plus a doe. I shoot a bowtech carbon knight 30 inch draw 65 pounds. easton axis 509 gr with NAP spitfire maxx's when it gets too cold I do also have a crossbow. just a pse fang 350, bought end of last year after sitting for hours in 5 degree temps and struggling to draw my bow. not sure if too many layers or I was frozen, either way... Ended up taking a marginal shot on a quartering deer, got lucky and shot straight through carotid artery.
Mine is same as always. See what the rut brings me I don't get the time to properly scout and the land I hunt is landlocked by woods. Acorns and browse are the main food sources, no plots or ag fields. Mainly bedding and travel routes. Lost my uncle, who's land it is, last June and he was the one that kept it up. Will have to see what happens this year, not sure if anyone will mow the pastures or not. He kept it mowed as well as some trails and 4 wheeler trails. It's Morgan County in west central IL, I usually have an opportunity at a good one, I just have to have the patience to hold out. Will be on rutcation from Nov 7th through the 17th, October hunting will be weather dependent. If it's too warm out I'll likely wait for November, will keep pressure down as well. I've never seen a mature buck before Halloween in the 12 seasons I have hunted it, so won't be missing much if that is the case.
I went ahead and checked @Swamp Stalker in. No doubt in my mind he'll be along. Unless he doesn't like us.......
OHHHHHHHHHHH SNAP!!!!!!! What's up everyone!!!!!! Sorry I'm late to the Party, I was out scouting all day!
I’m all talk, I only saw three deer last year remember? But that was last year, and this is this year... I am going to kill a friggin giant this year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
