I have been spraying my bow down with scent killer before i hit the woods. Every video i watch i never see people do it. Should i not be spraying that stuff on my bow? What do you guys do?
When I hunt I set up a tent it is like a clean room with ozone treatment and I spray everything with the scent killer spray, feel kinda stupid like it is some kind of ritual holy water spray, hell I have no idea if it makes a difference.
I will not hunt unless I shower first have bagged and treated socks towels underwear etc, spray down very layer and still play the wind does it matter I like to think so.
I do most of that as well. But by the time i walk to my stand pull all my stuff up and get situated i have already broke a sweat. I do think what we do helps but i think its only to a certain point
I used to do it. Now I hunt with the wind more than I ever used to as well as showering etc. Without the right wind, nothing else matters. In my experience and opinion anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hunt in South Carolina. I could shower, spray everything, and as soon as I walk to my stand and climb in, I'm lathered in sweat. Then I fire up my thermocell. Plus, I sometimes have to fart and burp in the stand. All of that would ruin any scent control efforts I might take at the house. I do wash my clothing in scent control, but I wonder if that's pointless for all the sweat and the thermocell.
I do, along with everything else I'm wearing or packing in. . Does it make a difference? Idk probably not. It's probably more of a habit than anything. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I saturate my bow, arrows, binos, and everything else I bring in. I dislike being busted by deer ( and very seldom do)
I have sprayed my bow but its been a couple years now. I just rustle up oak leaves, acorns and debris where I hunt and toss it in a bin. That's where the switchback will sit before I head to the woods. Don't know if it helps but I like to thnk so. I've even made my own cover spray. Just boil those ingredients in a pot of water, use a coffee filter to transition in the spray bottle. I'd rather smell like my surroundings. Call it crazy but I've had success doing it.
I asked a question on a group hunting page on facebook for scent control efforts yesterday and you get a wide variety of responses. It seems like I got a lot of responses from people saying they never pay attention to the wind, that it doesnt matter, we put too much time into it and that they kill nice 120+" bucks every year blah blah blah. Me on the other hand, I'm spraying down as much as I can and playing the right winds haha
You guys remember when Robinson Outdoors made "White Lightning"? I sprayed that crap all over my bow and when it dried it left a white residue on everything that was almost impossible to get off. That may have been the last time I sprayed anything on my bow.
There's another brand that does that to with the white residue, I have the bottle still just can't remember the brand. It was the autumn formula for the smell is what I do recall.
the answer is sometimes my bow is mat black and the spray leaves a white chalky residue im not a fan of. what i do when the weather cooperates is when i get to camp spray my bow and then it never goes inside cabin. it hangs out on a covered porch. do the same with my boots
