Probably I really dumb question but what does Robots mean. At the bottom of the forum it will say how many members are on how many visitors and how many robots
I don't know the technical details but people will write programs to browse forums like this to look for key words and kinda snoop I guess. It's the same reason when you fill out a form a lot of times there is a check box saying I'm not a Robot. Or pick which pictures in the grid have pictures of signs or trees or something like that. It's all related to "phishing" type stuff. Computer phishing, not swimming fishing. I guess there is a way to tell if the user is real or not.
Pretty much what Hillbilly wrote. "Robots" is a program that collects data from website by scraping/collecting the text. Most times, this is from search engines. Other times, it's to take public content and post to another site, etc. There's ways forum software, or websites, can block content grabbers by putting in specific keywords that are supposed to soft block the robots. It can be overridden, as it's not heavily enforced.
