Carbons are totally new to me but hard to find alum. now so want to switch to carbon.I need to know spine and weight for carbon. Bow is at 60lbs and draw length is 29" with arrow length of 29". I shoot with fingers no sight or release on compound bow.Old alum. arrows were 2413 with 3-5" feathers and 2315 with 3-4"plastic vanes, I haven't shot either in a few years but grandson wants to start shooting. Thanks for any help. This is first time I've posted but I looked on site for past 6 months.
Each arrow manufacturer will have a chart that you can utilize to determine the correct spine arrow for your set up.
knowing nothing about carbon arrow I looked at Easton chart but couldn't understand the spine? Like 300,350, 400 and so forth I'm just interested in something very basic to start. Thanks for answering!
If you wanna go Easton you should go 340 with 2 inch vanes and 100 grain point. You can get them anywhere. I prefer a shop but big box stores carry them as well. Good luck
This is a link to the spine chart for Gold Tip arrows, there are two tables for compound bows. Those shooting above or below 315fps. The 300, 340, 400 are the spine identifying number just like 2413 or 2315 on your aluminum shafts. Given the specs you provided and assuming 100gr tip, the chart says you will want a 340 spine arrow. https://www.goldtip.com/Resources/Spine-Chart.aspx
I switched after about 40 years. I found the guys at the Chattanooga BPS to be helpful- determined the spine related to my draw weight and draw length. Cut to length at no charge. There isn't a shop close to me, in case you are wondering. Not advertising them but Lancaster Archery Supply has a number of carbon arrows and good customer service. The charts are a bit difficult unless you know the speed designed for your bow. My bows don't have that info anywhere, unless I have them put on a chronograph. Good luck as there are a lot of carbon arrows out there.
Spine is independent from material. Your 2315 is a 340. If the 340 spine is tuning well with the draw weight, arrow length and point weight you like then stick with a 340 in carbon. On a side note, if you want to match the quality in spine consistency of your aluminum arrows you're going to need a high end carbon because the tolerances are much harder to achieve. I'd suggest either victory or black eagle.
Thanks for responding I'm going to an archery shop today, but now I'm armed with information .Thanks again for the help
Lunenburg is about 1 hour from me as I'm in Nictaux Annapolis County, what is last name, as I used to drive truck in Bridgewater.
Glad you were able to get started in finding the correct arrows. And good shooting and safe hunting. If you were from Newfoundland, you would have to contend with Newfie jokes. Worked with a fellow from NFL. When I met him, I asked if knew any Newfie jokes. He was amazed that an American would know of them. Newfie jokes are like Jeff Foxworthy's redneck jokes.
